Ok first I have a question about the draft and scouting, should I do the group demonstration or the combine? Which would give me more bang for my buck. Also, this is one of the 18 year old centers I had from last year that came with my team, he's now 19, he's one of my better players but I've been seeing people asking about their players and they pretty much all say sell anyone who isn't a GOAT.

My center is: 6'10" and Starter Potential.
Jump Shot: inept Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: average Handling: average
Driving: respectable Passing: inept
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: average
Rebounding: average Shot Blocking: atrocious
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: mediocre

Experience: atrocious

How good can I get this guy to be, is he worth hanging on to?

Do scrimmage minutes help with your training? Does height have any effect on the game other than the rebounding stat going up faster or slower?

My first draft gave me a couple of ok players but I started with like a week left into the season and was pretty much blind picking.

Sorry for so many questions but even though I have supporter feature, the forum search just sits there and does nothing.

Draft has just been so this decision is for way later. The strategy depends on what place you'll be picking from.

The guy won't become very good but probably good enough to contribute to a team at your level as a backup . Generally people would probably advise you to at least buy an all star trainee. There is some fun in training someone from your original team or draft so I'd say train him as a 2nd or 3rd trainee while you look for other trainees. Get a trainee with a bit higher potential next to him but don't overspend. You are just learning the game and also learning how training works. Once you get a hang of everything you'll probably know enough to decide for yourself on whether you want to continue training this guy, sell him, or use him as a backup teammember but look for another trainee. (I don't know what level players are in div V but I'm guessing a guy like this can be a backup at least......is that correct USA people?)

Scrimmage minutes help with training just as much as regular minutes. This is good for training people that are not good enough for your competitive matches yet or for training out of position.

height affects quite a few factors. small players train faster in JR, OD, HN, DR from the top of my head. PS and JS height doesn't matter that much. And IS, ID, SB, RB longer players train better (might be off on 1 or 2 skills but close enough for a first idea. There is a nice training site that has all the data http://training.bb-usa.net/club/home.php)

Yeah forum search is not so great

Thank you Tesse, and thegame, I appreciate the help, I was kind of thinking along these lines. That center had those stats when I got him at 18, it's a shame his potential isn't higher because from what I understand that would have been a kick ass prospect with his handling and stuff being pretty decent for a rookie center. I added it up and that's a 62 total points. I've been seeing people bragging about having a 54 total.

People usually don't add stamina and free throw when counting skill points. Nevertheless, if he had a good potential it would still be a really good prospect. Shame he is only starter.

Ah I didn't know they didn't add those two stats, maybe he's not as good as I thought.

You seem like you catch on pretty quickly. Did you read my guide on BB Economics-on second page of this forum currently? That will help you get to DIV III. American Secrets has a team like yours, you may want to contact him for advice. He's in the same boat as you. Pretty much spending all his cash on his arena until his first 16 weeks are up and has to pay higher wages.

There is a nice spreadsheet that you can use for training: training simulator. The best part of this spreadsheet is that it shows how quickly each type of training trains players on the Coef tab per height and age.

I would be interested in Kelly Redding's skill set. Mostly his outside skills. A 7-2 guy with decent outside skills is hard to find.

Anyway get your stadium going

Also I notice you have the famous: Grubbses & Scrubbses in your league. Look at some of the players he has had. Pretty funny

I would keep him, he has solid starting skills plus when you are first starting you need to learn how training works more than having a guy with high potential. He could be a solid player until you get to D3. I basically gave away a couple solid trainees who could've turned into good players for my team right now simply because they didn't have high potential.

If you do keep him, I would decide quickly if he is going to be a big man or not, his SB needs some work, especially with the increased emphasis on SB for this season. You could probably turn him into a solid SF by focusing training on pressure, passing and one-on-one forwards along with a few pops in big man skills.

Haha, he's had like 50 players named grubbs!!! That's hilarious. Yes I did read your post on BB Economics and it was very helpful. I was wondering if I'm in a league with mostly computer players how does the CPU draft? Do they get points or just randomly pick?

Its random.

So even if you place first in the league you will likely generate one of your top 2 picks.

Its worth considering even investing 20K a week because of the advantages of being in the lowest Div. You need good draftees to build your team around early on, and they will be more effective.

As you move up to Div 4, if you pick towards the end of a draft you will probably not get one of the coveted players.

So its worth considering 20K a week, even though money is tight in Div 5.

Yeah I'd probably go for 10k per week. That way you get 2 points and pay 5k per point which is the lowest possible price (1 point is also 5k). And since money is indeed short in the low divisions the extra 10k for 1 point doesn't seem worth it to me.

But you can still get quite a bit of info with that.
