I have two very good shooting guards, one very good small forward and two more who are alright, two decent point guards, but my big men are young amd terrible. What is the best offense and defense for me to use? Right now I am using run and gun offense and inside box and one defense.

I would play motion and 2-3 but seriously you need to get a big guy with at least an 8k salary. (It only costs about 40k max on the TL for a 25-28 year old big guy with around a 10k salary). I promise you your team will be much much better if you get a couple big guys on the TL because then you can play strict M2M for defense and usually do better in the defensive and rebounding ratings.

You can get them way cheaper than that if you are patient, I got a few big guys that are good but are only roleplayer-starter potential who are cheap as hell and still MUCH better than your average div 4 and 5 centers you'll be going against. I got a 37 year old guy with 5k salary for 2k and a 24 yo 3.6k guy for like 8k who still has a little room for improvement in my second tier of trainees that get my left over minutes, and I imagine they are going to blow through my opponents in this league even more than my 19 year old Starter Center who is pretty awesome. (picked up 10 assists with inept passing in this league.)

That's why I said "max". Also, I don't think he wants to get anyone older than 32 because at 33 their skills start to deteriorate. When you go for 8-12k big guys between the ages of 24-28 they are decently cheap and you can use them for quite a few seasons. You wont be able to use your 37 year old much longer until he is just a scrub.

Yeah, I know he is pretty much a 1 season rental, but he is still vastly better than any of the young guys and much cheaper, and it's not like I even had to go over my salary floor to get him either. I know that there is very little future value in him but I got that with the younger starter/roleplayer potential types to use as decent backups for a good while now. (Like my 7'1" SG that who's only weak spot is passing) I can literally plug that guy in at whatever position I want besides the point and have him do great at this level of competition that I'm at so far.

Without ratings it will be difficult to give you perfect recommendations on an offense or a defense. However, given that your team is unbalanced and your main players appear to be perimeter players then an outside offense would be best. Run 'n' Gun is probably serving you just fine. Defense is probably more about gauging your opponents.

Advice Turn Up never asked for:

The most important component to conquering the V leagues is to learn how to balance your roster to keep game shape high and managing enthusiasm. That's going to give you a large advantage by itself.

In terms of your roster, my advice is to balance out your roster. Think like San Antonio Spurs, limited money and making prudent choices in creating a well rounded team that can play any style of play. In lower divisions there is a lot of variety in tactics and personnel choices, so it's advantageous to have a balanced team that can adjust tactics to defeat opponents.

Something to remember with V leagues is that if you are a dedicated player, you're probably going to promote quickly and there is a strong chance you'll be retooling your roster upon promotion. Thus, if you feel a older cheaper player will help you save money toward that retool, that's fine.

Ive also been using my second best small forward at power forward and he now has two double doubles out of two games played. He is pretty tall at 6'6", is this alright to do?
