I just signed up today, under the influence of my brother (phokdapolees, manager of The Thugs). I expanded my arena, 500 more bleachers and 100 more lower tier, but I'm not sure on what to do now. Should I purchase a few trainees, get some cheap guys with 10k+ salaries to get out of D.V or tank until the draft, and save money until I get some draftees? Also, here's my current trainee. I have to say, I think I got pretty lucky with him.

Cale Leslie

Owner: Aerodynamic Bulls

Weekly salary: $ 2 997
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 10900
Age: 19
Height: 7'1" / 216 cm
Potential: MVP
Game Shape: respectable
Jump Shot: awful Jump Range: awful
Outside Def.: average Handling: average
Driving: inept Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: inept Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: average Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: average Free Throw: strong

Experience: atrocious

Should I train him or sell him, and if I should train him, how should I train him? Any advice for my team is greatly appreciated.

I think you should try to find another Big man (18 year old with at least all star potential) and train him along with Leslie. I wouldn't sell Cale Leslie because he probably won't sell for much because he is 19, but you can still train him into a very good big man. You are actually very lucky with him because he is 7'1" with very good potential and good secondaries. I would find that other rookie on the TL and train both of their Inside D up to prominent and then train inside shooting until both of your players are up to proficient inside shooting. Then work on rebounding. Just make sure your trainees get at least 48 minutes per week in order to get their full training and make sure that all of your players get between 48 and 70 minutes so they keep good gameshape. Gameshape usually equals good team in D.V. The nice thing about bigs with good secondaries to start is that you can pretty much focus all of your training on Inside shot, rebounding and inside D (And shotblocking, but that also trains with inside D). Then if later in the season you could get a good guard or two (8k-12k salaries) You would have a nice set up to make a very good run with your big guys and decent other players. I haven't looked at how tough your league is but I think you will definitely be able to promote by next season if you train two big guys to play the PF and Center positions and have decent backup along with them. No promises about this season, but you have a key piece right here with Leslie to make a good team. Sorry if I rambled, but I hope this helped.

Man, I wish I would have gotten a starting player that good and young!!! I'm pretty jealous. I would definitely keep him. I also agree with EBW on his training ideas for that player. You don't necessarily have to buy another player to play with him, especially if you have some other young players that could benefit from the inside training you would be focusing on with your Center.

Okay then, I'll train Leslie and I'll look for another trainee to train with him. Also, how important are trainers? And if they are necessary for training, what level should they be and what should their salary be?

http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thread=144856&m=1 I would suggest reading that thread, its called the Buzzerbeater FAQ or something, that will tell you everything you need to know in order to become a good manager in the lower divisions.

Welcome to BB!

Best things to remember....

First, this game is a marathon not a sprint... Having a long term plan is the best way to go.

Secondly, do what makes you happy... there is no point in making all these changes to get the perfect team if your not having any fun.

For example, I have a role player potential trainee I have been training since I got my team. He will cap soon, but I will probably keep him as long as possible because he is a cornerstone and the most well-known/beloved player on my team. Also, all his accolades have been achieved whilst on my team.

Also, I'm sure a lot of people are more then happy to help you as you learn buzzerbeater. Feel free to message me or anyone else if you have any questions.

Best of luck to you and your brother this season.

I would train him at one on one guards and pick up a bunch of other prospects (good potential 19 year olds) and then just train away. Right now you can probably still find cheap superstar potential players on the TL at age 19. I would pick up 4 more guys to train with him (spend less than 10,000 on each). I would hire a lvl 4 trainer.

Read my guide on BBEconomics. It will help you.

Based on the teams that are in your league, you could go for a title this season if you wanted to. I would start looking for 32+ vets right away.

Play TIE until you have a roster. Unfortunately you have already lost two games so you will need to add to your roster soon if you want to run for a title. However, you can't afford to lose more than 1 more game before you start winning. Its always better to advance out of Div5 if you have a good chance to. Luckily your Div does not look that challenging.

Manage your gameshape and play TIE while adding vets.

It will be a challenge, since you already spent a bunch of cash on the arena, but it will be fun

Okay, I just bought two more trainees and I'm still looking for an advanced trainer. Here are the stats:

Tõnis Soidla

Owner: Aerodynamic Bulls

Weekly salary: $ 3 540
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 8700
Age: 19
Height: 6'2" / 188 cm
Potential: superstar
Game Shape: average
Jump Shot: inept Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: pitiful Handling: inept
Driving: inept Passing: average
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: mediocre Shot Blocking: inept
Stamina: pitiful Free Throw: strong

Experience: atrocious

Cleveland Judd

Owner: Aerodynamic Bulls

Weekly salary: $ 1 954
Role: draws a paycheck
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 4700
Age: 18
Height: 6'5" / 196 cm
Potential: allstar
Game Shape: mediocre
Jump Shot: awful Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: pitiful Handling: awful
Driving: pitiful Passing: pitiful
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: inept
Rebounding: pitiful Shot Blocking: respectable
Stamina: mediocre Free Throw: inept

Experience: atrocious

I really like Soidla's starting skills, and he has really good potential. Judd, not so much, but that 7 RB could be helpful with the GE change.Who should I base my training around? I know not Judd, but should I train around Leslie or Soidla? Also, what chance do I have of promoting? My league seems pretty active for a D5 league, so I don't think I can promote this season, but I don't know.

Train around Leslie. He's originally from your team and will make you extra merchandise money as he gets better. But I guess Soidla will be pretty fine even when the focus is on Leslie.

The earlier described plan was fine. If you train the inside skills a bit first you could first train IS and after that ID since it seems that way it would train faster (elastic effect....you might read about it in other threads).

A bit of outside training like one-on-one for forwards is never wrong either. It makes the salary go up more slowly and it trains DR,HN,IS and JS.

Good luck in training and just have fun making these guys the core of your team. In the end you will probably have different ideas about what the optimal training could have been but I still have that sometimes (like should have trained more JR on my guy when he was young instead of those pops in rebounding).

Crunchy! If you eat fast enough

Base your training around your MVP-Leslie. If you download the training simulator you will see that you can still train around the 7-1 guy despite height differences. You may want to do single position training until you find more prospects to add to your team. Maybe passing? Once you get a few more trainees, you could look at one on one training as your best option.

There is only one team in your Div that has a decent roster. The problem is you started about two weeks late. 1) You missed your best chance at getting cheap veterans, 2) You missed your best chance at getting cheap/good trainees 3) You are out of the Cup and lost your first two games. Those three factors hurt your economic chances. BUT you did land an awesome 7-1 Center

So at this point since you did already spend on your arena and a 50K trainee you might as well just play TIE and manage gameshape of your players. Your goal should be to try to make the playoffs. If you do that, you have a good chance at promotion. But before going and spending on your roster, add a few more trainees and a level 4 trainer. Then see where you stand. At this point you are probably just looking at an average season with a good draft spot. You should be fine with that

I'd add more courtside and lux boxes at your next build. Those sell out easy.

not to rain on your parade but i think it's still a decent time to land a <10k guy

but in my own opinion, I'd buy some young guys that can help your team for seasons to come (like a 7k player that can start in D5 and bench in D4 as a 6th man) You can easily get some type of player like that for less then 50k (but it my opinion)

D5 is full of crap so if you can spend 2 pts a week and have about 25+ pts you can go and do the combine and scout accordingly

It all comes down to whether you want to win and promote fast (which is buying a lot of old guys get a trainee or two and race to D4 [which i did and i kinda got stuck in a rut]) OR you can take the slow and turtleish way to D4 (which would be you buying young players and building for the future, to where you could probably promote to D2 faster instead of promoting to D4/D3 fast and then being stuck in a see-saw D3/D4 for a few season)

As said before, you run your team how you roll, and most importantly: HAVE FUN thats what it about
