Reason I ask is because I know a team shouldn't continue to train players older than 24 because of the longer time it takes to train older players but what about potential? Will a player with All Star or higher potential for example reach their full potential by 23 or 24 if you trained them since 18 years of age?

How does potential exactly affect a players abilities? Lower potential like 6th man won't allow players to reach higher skill levels like a superstar right, or is there more to it?

Thanks!

Also any comments/suggestions on my 18 year old potential U21 NT player? Training one on one guards for the second week in a row. No pop for him last week :-( so I'm hoping for at least maybe two this week for him since it is one on one.

Potential is pretty straight forward in that the players with better potential can reach better skills because their cap is higher, however potential (like game shape) also varies. For example your player with 7 potential can be anywhere between 7.0 and 7.9 potential, which is why players all cap at different spots in their career even if their potential is the same, along with what you are training. Your guy looks pretty good! I can almost promise you that he should get at least a pop or two this week if you are training 1v1 and didn't get a pop last week. I trained 1v1 a ton last season and neither of my guys had two consecutive weeks without a single pop when training it, so I hope that boosts your hopes a bit.

Thanks man. I don't see to often when I don't get a pop in 1v1 but I know it happens. I need to get his DR up and will worry about FTs later.

For example your player with 7 potential can be anywhere between 7.0 and 7.9

I'm sorry but this is wrong....There are NO sublevels on Potential. .A MVP is the same as every MVP. All potentials have soft caps(where training slows down). An MVP spoftcap starts where all MVP softcaps start.
Second forum thread I found that you made a mistake and passed on wrong info. Wow!! And you got crazy balls!!

B.B.King:
I prefer to use Potential Score instead of two numbers for cap range.
This value shows how many potential was used and it's easy and intuitive to see how many potential remain to train.
For example potential = allstar means that player should be capped when Potential Score is between 6,00 - 6,99 (depending on sublevels of potential). For other levels of potential it works analogical.

rhyminsimon:
So there are two things that pertain to your question:
1) there are sublevels of potential and
2) a player doesn't have a cap really, just a point at which training slows down.

Saw this in another thread. These people seems to believe that there are sublevels for potential, as do many other people who replied on the thread. Feel free to look up the thread "Buzzer-Manager/Training calculator/cap". It talks about it a bit. Maybe I misunderstood it, or some of the messages, but this to me made me believe that their are sub levels of potential. Maybe someone else can chime in on this thread and let both of us know.

I have always been told that Potential and staff levels have no sublevels.

So you are wrong. Because potential has sublevels ;)

Sorry....I stand by my opinion. Potential has a soft cap and a hard cap which is proven.
potentials having sub-levels is speculation by some members of this game. It is not proven. Until a BB says other wise....Sub-levels on potential will be filed with UFOs and Santa Claus.

There is nothing wrong with training a player over 24 provided they already have good skills and havn't reached their potential. Of course training will be slower but given the right circumstances it can be worthwhile.

Good point Dude.

I have some good trainees right now so I'm glad to hear that.
