Has there ever been an indepth study of the financial implications of each draft i.e How much you spend on scouting each year minus the sale value of the players you get (or estimated sale value if you do not end up selling)? Just wondering

Adding to what Perpete said, obviously there's a degree of common sense to it as well. If you're picking behind 15 active human teams, odds are you're not going to wind up with a profitable draftee even if you spend $600k/season on draft scouting.
