Is there any current way to "pack the paint" to prevent inside scoring and passing? Sort of the way teams defended the Heat before they surrounded James/Wade with 3pt specialists...force them to settle for mid range looks and contested 3s.

There is a team in my league who has very good passing, but quite poor outside shooting. He is running look inside, which should be a gigantic mess in real life with this tactic. Is there anything I can do to exploit his lack of outside shooting?

I think this is the general issue with why look inside is so effective, but I figured I would ask anyways. And FYI, I am under the impression that I would give up tons of assists running a 2-3.

Thanks.

Could you possibly link the team that you are talking about? Otherwise it is hard to give you top notch advice. I feel like 2-3 wouldn't give up that many assists if you are using good perimeter defenders though.

Box plus 1 is a good idea...I could shut down the PG or SG from passing and zone on the rest. Anyone have any experience with this?

By the way, I know I wouldn't face him again until the championship. I am more just trying to get some ideas on how to defend the paint better in general.

Your SF outclasses his by a mile so hopefully he just goes off.

LI is all knowing and all powerful in this game. Logically 2-3 or inside box should limit his inside attack and force him to brick jumpers but it doesn't usually work out that way in practice.

Or you could forego the risk of having a wrong matchup and just manually set defensive switches on his player(s).

When i was very dominant LI team few seasons ago, with inside scoring like 72 percent, I had some trouble playing against box out defence, so i think it might work, 2-3 zone just doesnt work cause you get terorized by an increased number of assists and guards penetrating to the basket.
