Some of you may know about my trainee. I've always hoped Wally will one day make the senior NT. I've sacrificed winning to ensure his training goes well. I wanted to ask a few of the more senior players what their thoughts are on how i should train him from here. I figure he needs a bit of passing but how much? I was thinking 3-4 pops and then focusing on getting one of his defensive ratings up a bit more.

Love to hear some opinions.

Here are his skills

Jump Shot: marvelous Jump Range: prominent
Outside Def.: tremendous Handling: sensational ↑
Driving: tremendous ↑ Passing: mediocre
Inside Shot: tremendous Inside Def.: tremendous
Rebounding: proficient Shot Blocking: strong
Stamina: average Free Throw: mediocre

Experience: mediocre

Yeah, definitely needs passing but needs more defense as well and a little rebounding wouldn't hurt.

I'm assuming you're going for the "jack of all trades" SF instead of an inside or outside focused one so he's prob not going to be a proper NT SF until the end of next season at least so I'd do the defense first before he gets any older (try to get at least 2 pops of ID and OD) and then get his passing up after that until the end of his 26th year.

Having never coach an NT - do the Jack of all trades blokes cut it. The bloke above obviously could be a great one but isn't our NT made up of more inside or outside specific blokes or is that just because there is no great all round SF types?

Either way i love D ljubo so I'd be going more of it like Dire said and also the passing particularly if he's going to be played in a LI offence.

Have you messaged the coach? He might have a more specific idea of what he needs in the team.

An all round SF is the plan. If i got OD/ID to prod, passing to strong and rebounding to sensational would that be a NT worthy player?

I know there no Green skills but is that sort of all around balance desirable?

Noodles: I have message the NT coach about his training more recently and that's why i tried to get his shooting up a bit. Will BB mail him now as well.

very good looking player there.

I personally would like to see both D's at marvalous. Could not tell you if that is NT worthy but he would be fantastic.

Passing is always good, I reckon at least strong

strong passing doesn't really cut it for a SF. You'd be looking at prolific/sensational if you can to be a really top notch SF and would be a main SF for most matches then you could just fill in whatever room he has left with extra rebounding when he is 27 to get him really dominating in a defensive/facilitator sort of role.

At 188cm tall he is not going to be a jack of all trades SF.

Great effort to get him to Tremendous ID and IS.

He has to become an Outside SF, to develop to his best.

Passing needs to jump up 6 or 7 levels and OD up about another 4 levels.

Id be tempted to also push JR

Personally at 24 yo, I think hes going to struggle to develop quick enough to make the National team, but regardless hes worth persisting with and would sell for a mint

He has IMO enough ID & IS already to make it as an outside SF but I think his existing high driving and handling will become a salary problem by the time you get his passing upto anywhere near acceptable

There is some excellent developing SF Aussie talent about, from memory the offsite website has a list of developing SFs and their skills and no it doesnt include my 3

Wally is in that list on the offsite forum so he is obviously highly considered by NT scouts, but IMO Leigh Rieffel and Rueben Timoci might have Wally slightly shaded at this stage (with consideration given for age)

In my opinion - if you want him in the NT I'd go OD (to prod/stup, and hope for a bonus ID pop while training it), passing to prolific/sensational, then hammer his jump range/jump shot so he can be an effective outside SF, or hammer his IS to make him and effective inside SF.

Defense is nice and all, but the guy has got to have a solid scoring option as well, or he won't be picked I wouldn't think.

Pretty scary Mllama but you and I are pretty much identical in our assessments
(246597.8) v (246597.7)

and OD up about another 4 levels. Tremendous plus 4 = Stupendous

passing to prolific/sensational

Passing needs to jump up 6 or 7 levels Mediocre plus 6 = prolific, Mediocre plus 7 - Sensational

then hammer his jump range/jump shot so he can be an effective outside SF

Id be tempted to also push JR

I love passing on all players but sometimes you don't have to make it too high, although double digits would be ideal. Anyways, this guy is a SF, how many guys in the world could possibly stop him if he had like 17+ IS and 17+ JS while playing at SF? I would get him a couple more OD and ID pops but beast his offence. Nobody will be able to stop him in your league games and he will be difficult to contain in the national games.

The national team has had some defensive SF but I've seen that offensive SF are more dangerous...

Judging by the offsite forum Australia is going to be blessed with some quality SFs in a couple of seasons time

With your concept of beasting up his offense and favouring offensive SFs, how important do you think JR is?

Duffill has played okay in the National team at SF , and he never had great JR
