I happens regularly I have to play against a team with only 1 player on the bench. And every time the game is finished i have to come to the same conclusion, which is that the number of minutes a player plays doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever on the player's stamina. Each player, whether he played 10 minutes or 45 minutes, keeps playing and throwing balls and making baskets just as well as at the beginning of the game, when all players are still fresh.
So the number of minutes doesn't seem to have any consequence on the playing skills during the game.
It's just as if a player just doesn't seem to get tired because he didn't have any rest during the game.
Something is seriously wrong with the game engine regarding this issue.
Wouldn't it be more logical that a players would play worse when he gets tired ? Seems logical to me, but for the game engine it just doesn't seem to make any difference.
So i'm starting to wonder, why would i have to have a substitue for each position, when i could just play as well with only 5 starting players and 1 one bench player.
Because, whether a players plays 10 minutes of the whole game, the difference at the end will be ZERO.

There are many factors that affect players during the game. If we made the GE in a way that it would show the stamina effect very linearly, it wouldn't be very realistic.
There's another reason you need to have good backups - training minutes. Your game shape will drop if your players have too many weekly minutes. While this part doesn't directly correlate with reality in all cases (some players do average a lot of minutes per match in the NBA, for example), it does on the level of this game, which promotes smart weekly minute management.

Hello BB-Marin,

Thanks for the info.
I knew that already that the weekly number of minutes makes a difference for the game shape.
But at the same time, that seems to be the only consequence for many minutes played, because the fact remains that whether a player plays only 10 minutes or the whole game (48 minutes) he will play equally well during that game, and it doesn't make any difference at all if he gets tired or not, it just doesn't have any effect on his game rating/prestation. That's the point i wanted to make. So getting tired during a game, is a factor which is just not recognized by the game engine. So if you want a better and more realistic game enigine, well then "getting tired" should be taken into account also by the game engine during a game.

But currently, as you well stated, the only importance the number of minutes have so far, are only important for the weekly game shape update, and that's all.
BUT for the game itself, it doesn't make any difference whatsoever.

Believe me when I say that stamina and "tiredness" both play a role in the game engine, just as they should. Maybe the ratings don't show it quite clearly, but it's definitely factored in the calculations of match events.
