I have a young hall of famer that I'd like to get into the everyday line-up, but my PF/C positions are already filled. Could I train him to be a inside oriented SF? I know his height isn't ideal, but he popped in OD 4 times in 6 weeks of training this season, so height didn't exactly hinder his progress.

Weekly salary: $ 21 097
Role: regular starter
(BuzzerBeta)

DMI: 271400
Age: 21
Height: 6'11" / 211 cm
Potential: hall of famer

Jump Shot: prominent Jump Range: inept
Outside Def.: mediocre↑ Handling: average
Driving: strong Passing: inept
Inside Shot: wondrous Inside Def.: prolific
Rebounding: proficient Shot Blocking: mediocre

I'm fine with his current skill at JS/DR. Also I believe I can get him to about strong OD at the beginning of next season. So if I train all of next season on OD with some passing do you think he could play SF? Thanks.

Well, he can....but you will have a team very inside oriented...both defensively and offensively, A good SF should have same OD and ID (1/2+ OD on my opinion), and you also need a bit more range ;)

He could probably only be a D IV SF. I wouldn't use an SF with less than 12 OD in D III. He could be a truly elite PF/C, even from a NT standpoint. (He may be a little behind for the NT, but I'll defer to someone with more experience.

That's okay with me... I wasn't looking for him to be there forever. Just until my PF/C get old. Then he'll be a very well rounded PF.

Also, the reason you got 4 pops of OD in such a short time is because of the elastic effect. His OD was so low (atrocious) that it trained quickly to narrow the gap between his other higher skills (maybe ID). I wouldn't count on his OD training anywhere close to as fast in the future, especially since his age and height will be working against him, and the elastic effect is decreasing.

You might be able to get by with him as an inside oriented SF in DIV, but in DIII and above he'd be better suited to being a PF. Plus he'd be a much better PF than either of your other starting big men once he's trained up.

Another option could be to train him to be a PF. Sell your current PF and acquire a better SF trainee candidate, especially a SF trainee with better guard skills. Then, as you're training your HoF guy in big man skills, your newly acquired SF trainee can also train up his big man skills.
