I regularly monitor the results of the fan survey after each game because I want to make sure that I have as many fans as possible buying tickets for my games. I usually manage to get at least 4.5 to 5 stars before each home game but for a while now the 'general manager is doing everything he can to try to improve the team' stat has been gradually falling and is now at just two stars.

I'm assuming this is because I haven't bought any new players for almost two full seasons. Can't really think of any other valid reason as I have just promoted to division 4 last season and managed to get to league finals, have two players who regularly pop in training, did well in the cup, etc. Althought in my opinion the team is exactly where I want it to be for the time being I can understand the fans are dissapointed with no new star players to come and watch.

My questions would be:
1. Will buying a new player help raise the 'manager is improving the team stat'? (Is my thinking correct that this is the main problem)
2. If I buy a new good player and fire an old one (to keep my headcount the same) will that do the trick or will the fans' reaction still stay on a low level?

Looking forward to any advice from more experienced managers...

To answer your first question, yes that will usually improve that part of the Fan Survey. But, as to your second question, it may increase the "Manager is doing all he can to improve the team" but also may decrease "I am aware who the star players are and not afraid they will be transferred." If you fire a player that has less of a role on your team, there's less of a likelihood of that decreasing, though.

Yes, I kinda thought that it would work like that but it seems to me that 'manager is doing all he can' has a stronger effect on the overall satisfaction level than 'I know who the star players are' so I think a change will be a good idea. The only problem seems to be that the prices out there are quite ridiculous at the moment, with all the managers spending their promotion bonuses, so looks like my dear fans are gonna have to be patient a bit longer.

Buying a new player will certainly help your fan survey, and another option would be to expand your arena I believe. Your bleachers and lower tiers could still use some expansion and might help your survey without needing to change your team.

I bought a new player and the 'manager is doing all he can' went up from two stars to four and a half, so it sure did the trick.

I did not realize that expanding my arena would also influence this rating but I keep expanding regularly as soon as I have a few dollars available on my account and I intend to keep building more bleachers and lower tier, like you suggested.
