Here is a brief overview of our first 6 games in the 1st stage of the african championship.

We still have to play Ghana but we are already qualified for the 2nd stage.
We can have a positive balance in getting the win for the last game.
It would be a great result.

Misr U21 vs. Al Jazair U21 79 - 100 (29499)

THE FACT: Al Jazair's defense limited our team to 33 percent shooting (33-for-100)

THE LEAD: Al Jazair took the lead early in the game and closed it on a 33-18 in the 3rd quarter.
Our attack was not good at all (low shooting percentage and 16 turnovers).

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: N. El-Gibril (14 pts, 14 rbs, 4 asts, 3 blks)

Senegal U21 vs. Misr U21 111 - 82 (29504)

THE FACT: Senegal's frontcout took over the whole game (55 pts, 43 rbs for Traore, Sina and Sagna)

THE LEAD: Despite a good first quarter Senegal definitely took the lead on a 34-15 in the 2nd quarter.
It was too difficult to overcome this 20 pts deficit against a very good ball team.

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: S. Sleiman (20 pts)

Misr U21 vs. Nigeria U21 105 - 89 (29509)

THE FACT: Our backcourt dominated the game with a Run&Gun tactic against a zone 2-3. First win in the championship.

THE LEAD: After leading by 2 points after 3 quarters, we pulled away in the last quarter
behind the rythm imposed by our backcourt (Aziz, Al-Abir & Waziri)

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: Y. Aziz (28 pts in 18 minutes)

South Africa U21 vs. Misr U21 84 - 53 (29511)

THE FACT: Blowout against a very good team. Horrible shooting percentage (19-for-83)

THE LEAD: South Africa took the lead early and won the first 3 quarters by 10 or more.
Our players are not enough good to compete against this kind of team.

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: Y. Aziz (23 pts, 7 rbs, 3 asts)

Tounes U21 vs. Misr U21 89 - 111 (29517)

THE FACT: Our frontcourt outplayed the opposition in the paint (38 pts and 37 rbs for El-Gibril and El-Tariq). Second win in the championship.

THE LEAD: Our team made the definitive difference in the last quarter but won each quarter.
Our team grabbed 66 rebounds (20 offensive) versus only 39 for Tounes. The key stats of the game.

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: N. El-Gibril (22 pts, 17 rbs, 5 asts)

Misr U21 vs. Al Maghrib U21 106 - 70 (29521)

THE FACT: Our best game : We played well the entire game in both sides of the court. Third win in the championship.

THE LEAD: We took the lead early and never looked back. We made shots in attack and got stops in defense.
50% percent shooting, 58 rbs, 38 asts and only 8 TOs.

OUR PLAYER OF THE GAME: N. El-Gibril (23 pts, 9 rbs, 8 asts)

See you on next Monday.
Samuel

We finally took the lead for good behind a 31-19 4th quarter.

Hi Everybody,

Despite a promising first stage, we finally failed to reach the semi-finals.
We were not able to avoid the 5th spot.
It's disappointing, especially as it was finally decided with the point average.
But congratulations to Nigeria and the 3 other teams.

The key point was the 2-point loss against Nigeria during this 2nd stage, especially with the 18-on-31 at the FT line.

It's also a shame that Al Maghrib have given up the last game against Nigeria with a single player on the court.
It's not the deciding factor but it's not fair play at all.

The next season, the challenge will be even more difficult, we are going to loose 4 players and the succession is mediocre and few managers really cooperates.

See you next season
Samuel
