Has anyone here signed up to buzzerbeaterdb? Ive just seen an advertisement for the website, it says that it can reveal your opponents players skill by simply clicking on their roster page.

It sounds a bit suspicious.

this came out a few years ago. (literally, late 2012 i think).

I honestly can't remember how it gathered the stats. Some people speculated that it gathered info from the Transfer List page - which i think was plausible.

You can see 4 of the player stats or something like that..... and then if you pay, you get all the player stats.

But if the player has never been on the transfer market, you can't find it.

.... i THINK thats how it worked. Not too sure. I dont think anyone really confirm, but it did appear to be legit - somewhat.

let me put it this way - Search for this guy - Lawrie Farruggia

you won't find him. He has never been on the transfer market, so he doesn't appear in the database.

Now search for this guy - Hori Nash - He has, but you can see that his stats were last updated back in May or something - NONE of the stats that displayed (for me) were correct.

So its debatable as to how useful it is.

Ive never used it personally.

I've installed it and based on what I see, I agree with Coach Regan, it appears to collect data from the transfer market. All my players ratings lineup with when I've put them up to be sold or bought them. It appears that buzzerbeaterdb began collecting data in early 2012 or sometime around that.

In general, I think you'll only be getting a few players that are useful per team and they may or may not be the players you want to know about. I mean, if a team signed a player off the transfer market a year ago and he's 23, then it's not particularly useful. For example, on my team, out of the top 9 players; 4 of them are not close anymore, 5 of them are reasonably close.

In addition, buzzerbeaterdb will only be giving you Driving, Jump Range, Rebounding, Handling, Stamina, Shot Blocking and Experience for free, the rest you would have to pay for. So... *shrug* Since you can collect so much useful data for game planning through third party sites, I'm not sure how helpful it really is.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll avoid using the site, part of the fun of BB for me is having to guess how best to tackle each team !

Once you get more and more experienced in the game, its pretty easy to work out certain player stats.

A PF that shoots really high FG% probably has good DR and JS. If he shoots a good 3pt% then he probably has good JR as well.

a C that turns the ball over a lot has low handling.

a PG that doesn't shoot a high FG% has low IS

etc etc etc
