Just starting a new thread so that I dont hijack the U21 thread.

Essentially I asked the question as to why U21 teams have 12 players playing and all getting minutes, mllama replied with

The standard nt approach is to play a blank lineup with lcd, which will play all 12 players if they are good enough. It shares minutes around better, and is pretty overpowered. Will be gone as an option next season though.

League teams don't tend to do it, because it screws with training - though sid has used it for much of the season, with obvious benefits!

So essentially Blank lineup + LCD.
Now i found this interesting, because I know on numerous occassions people have set this during a Private League game, and the results have been disasterous to confusing at best. particurly with things such as SG playing PF type of settings.

And i know that teams would need to sacrifice training for it, but how come we don't see it more often? I would have thought finals series would see more of this?

In my personal opinion, whilst a blank line-up + LCD can indeed be powerful, setting a proper line-up has it's advantages as well. Mainly the fact that with a blank line-up, the coaching AI will quite often put a player in a position on the court where their best skills are somewhat wasted. I remember one U21 game in season 26 where Mick did the blank line-up LCD, and Hampshire got played mostly at SF when any rational manager would instead play him at PG to take advantage of his 16 Passing skill.

There have also been times where I have played the blank line-up LCD and seen some of my better players get left out of the starting five altogether, in favour of inferior counterparts. Usually the minutes balance out well in the end, but I would think that it would be only rational to have your best possible line-up out there for the opening tip...

My main problem with lcd is that it doesn't handle non-traditional skills very well - that is, a pg with high is or a big with high guard skills can be very handy, but I think they get undervalued in lcd.

Otherwise, it is generally pretty good.

They need an offense where you can set up the mismatches and best line up, but the minutes get spread better like a LCD Blank line up

They just need an option so you can set the frequency with which your players sub out

So if one of the goals of LCD is to spread minutes, is that suggesting that LCD could counter-act lower stamina teams?

i can see the benefit if the difference between bench players and starting players is not that much, especially if stamina is an issue - so i wonder how this would go with say, 7-8 dressed players, where bench guys are still pretty good compared to starting 5.
