Just wanted to hear from others about how some teams are able to stay above water financially, when they have a counted $200,000+ in player salaries, and an average total attendance at their home games of 4000-5000?

The team I am looking at specifically was demoted from a level III league, down to my IV league, but I do not see how their team finances aren't -$500,000 or more in the hole, with so much player salary on the books, and no attendance to pay for it.

Are some team owners doing this intentionally? Are they getting high level players at $60,000+ salary, and 600,000-1,000,000 DMI, knowing they can't afford them, but there's no consequence in place for teams who don't manage their finances properly?

I've seen too many teams in the past few seasons whose player salaries don't even come close to matching up with the size of their arena, and attendance figures, and I'd like to know why they are able to get away with it.

Looking at the specific team you're referencing, they had 100k in arena revenue last game, vs. what I calculated as roughly 215k in salary. If you factor in the TV contract plus merchandising, and then staff, they are probably losing some money each week, but probably not too drastic an amount. They look like they sold a lot of players in September and came away with a pretty decent cushion, and it's also important to remember the 50k bonus for Cup wins can be somewhat significant early on.

I haven't looked in depth to see how likely they are to be training or long term plans or anything like that, but I don't see them as being necessarily on the edge of financial ruin.

Oh no. I finally gave hrudey a ball. I guess this has been coming for a while now.. Like 8 seasons maybe?

Anyways, stop doing such good work Hrudey so I don't have to contribute to your ball addiction!

I don't have my +1 analysis spreadsheets in front of me, but I think that a huge majority of them came not for doing good work, but because someone saw that I had a +1 on a post of some small humor value and peer pressure set in because the newly-promoted Executive Junior Beagle's face has that effect on people.

(disclaimer: I do not actually have a +1 analysis spreadsheet, though I do think that I'd love a +4 vorpal jumpshot, though of course this being BB it still would only hit on a natural 20).

Perhaps they have expensive seat prices?? Not sure, just a thought.

I see you crushed one of the reasonable teams in my conference in the Cup last week Indiana. Still looking forward to the rematch convective battle. Maybe we can even wind up in the same III division soon enough and make it a more common matchup (though one Jungle Fever makes that a difficult proposition for me).

Either way, good to see you're still going strong sir!
