Hey Everyone,
I just joined Buzzerbeater. Looks like I'm gonna get trampled the rest of the season. Anyone having a great season, wonderful new player their proud of, or game I could tune into. If anyone is still in the USA tourament, let me know, I would like to tune in to cheer them on.

Any league story lines or rivalries I should be aware of feel free to post as well.

Happy Managing,
Azaro

Welcome to the league! I did horribly in my last league and I'm praying to make the playoffs and not relegation tourney.
Some suggestions would be for you to focus on increasing your income by expanding your arena and look for a couple of good players with salaries you can afford.
You may also want to look up some info on the Draft and Training to make your players better.
Some guides I suggest:

Thanks, I'll really appreciate the suggestions.

The whole game is overwhelming at first.

I read something that relegation really hurts your attendance the subsequent season is that true?

Unfortunately, it looks like the league average team player salaries is above 100k/week. So, I'm gonna need a lot of help to stay out of relegation this season lol.

Gregorio Fuenbuena and Peter Rheinsberg are fun to watch. I hope their stay on the leader boards transfers to all-star appearances.

What games are you looking forward to this season?

I have relegated 3 times in the 3 years I have been playing (not this one, I lost my old acct). And each time I relegated my attendance went down, but went back up near max capacity by the first 4 weeks of the next season. So it really is temporary if you do well the next season.

Also if you are relegated on your first season, especially if you signed up 3 weeks before it ended, I think you are more likely to be placed into an All-Bot League so you have more time to learn and can see what a successful season and playoff feels like ;-). <PS> If you play all bots they're always Base Offense and Man D. I used 2-3 Zone Def against them always to increase rebounds. Patient is a great offense, too. You can experiment with various offenses and I'm sure you'll excel and win a bot league.

The player salaries are much higher for the top teams in the league, like GR Venom's I just added up is $144,370. Don't expect to compete with them, they Take It Easy for everyone but the top 4 teams in our league. And GR only really competes with 1 or 2 of them.

Thank you for the compliments on my players. Rheinsberg is an older player and a staple for my offfense, but I'm more looking forward to Swenson, Foster, and now my recent draft pick Jamison. I wish I had enough training to do all positions because Fuenbena and my Chinese C,

But I can't get enough cash income to expand my arena and trade players.

And I'm most looking forward to my training results this season. I started this season set on training PG/SG skills like OD, Pass, Drive, and JS/R. I took screenshots of my players I'm training at the beginning of the season and I'm going to compare them at the end.

Are you training and what are you focusing on?

Ok cool. Yeah I was hoping to put off buying any players if I could win my relegation and stay up. But with my last loss to MO money im probably gonna be auto relegated this season.

Nice that good to know. Yeah maybe I can find a system that works for me too.

Wow! I'll just grumble from afar, and moan about how my life would be better if I had that kind of team salary lol.

Sorry to see that no one made the All-star team for you. I'm Fuen and Rheins got vots though. Jamison and Foster look awesome. I'd be excited to see how much better they are by next season. Yeah I gotta start investing more in the arena so many I'll make more money when I get sent down to D.5.

That was smart. I got a couple pops on my PGs, but I only joined and started training around the all-star break so they don't look much better yet. One was pitiful in outside defense!!! Thank god he is now mediocre haha.

Think your gonna stay in playoff contention? I'd like to have a rooting interest in the Big 8 semi-final/first round.

It's always nice to peruse the market for new players. I like to see if I can snipe a well-rounded player for around $25k and train them into their specialties. I can't stand seeing players with Inept for lower stats for any stat. This also produces a "Rubber-Band Effect" on the training of the other stats. If you have a level 4 stat (Inept) and a level 10 stat (Prominent), then it will take less training points to improve the level 4 stat. This difference in training scales with the difference between levels. The lowest stat on your player can hinder the training of the rest of their stats, even if it's difficult to tell when you first start training them.

Which is why I try to find well-rounded players.

That is a great suggestion. I have actually been looking for an opinion on the forums to sway me in my training one way or the other. I have two decent PG prospects and I planned on just training them in passing, handling, and outside defense. That way they would take minimal shots but be lock-down defenders and passers. I always liked Gary Payton so my training reflects that i guess. However I have noticed they are pitiful in inside defense. Since they are so young I wonder if now is the best time to try to pop third tier skills.

Do you think its more important to conveyer belt trainees or make them into your ideal players?

I try to make trainees that I'll use but eventually end up selling them to help fill other holes. I currently train only C/PF. Right now, I have 3 guys 21-22 year olds with salaries over $12K. I have a 4th trainee who is ok behind them.

It's almost time to sell one of them to help fill the rest of the roster. Depends on the draft and if I get a legit big prospect to replace him.

It sounds like a balancing act. What can I get away with, in order to win now or later...

Do you think single position training or double position training is more efficient?
