A game in my Utopia league tonight between the two 1st-place teams. One squad is up 24 after three quarters, so of course the sim sticks in his backups ... but of course they have to face the other guy's starters. Trailing team comes all the way back to win by 1.

It makes zero sense that the sim leaves one team's starters in the game in a blowout and lets things like this happen.

Simple fix: in a blowout, both sets of backups should be in. Why is this even an issue?

Well, it certainly made sense to leave in these starters -- they pulled out the win!

It may not have made sense not to put the other starters back in when the substitutes were losing the lead.

My point is there is no basis in reality for this system.

If an NBA game is a blowout, do you see one team put a lineup of reserves on the floor against the other team's starters just to watch their big lead disappear? It doesn't happen.

BB is giving the trailing team way too good a chance at coming back this way.

I don't disagree about the unreality. But it is the other team that is unreal, leaving in the scrubs even when they are losing the lead. It looks like "garbage time" programming for substitutions cannot be reversed if the game gets close again. Maybe that is the simple cure for BB.

I've always found that when the lead shortens the starters do come back in. Somewhere around +12 or 13. Though of course it requires a foul or timeout, which is another issue.

It happens all the time in the NBA. The reserves play for the leading team, the starters stay in until the last two minutes. If the game starts to get close (usually 10 or less), the starters for the winning team come back out and try to hold the lead. If it never gets back within 10, the reserves for the losing team will usually just play out the end of the game since they know there is no coming back.

I agree, though, that you should never lose a game like the way you say happened. Once it is within 10 again, the starters should be back on the court to hold on to the win.

Watching the replay, 4 of the 5 the starters for the Beavers came back in in the 4th quarter at 8:59 (39 minutes in the replay). The PF Foremski didn't because he had 6 fouls and Pujats had to play for him. Matthew Macken, the starting SF, who is the primary scorer in the Patient offense went 2-6. van Plateringen went 1-4. The whole team went 3-19. Macken and van Plateringen made the only baskets in the 4th.

At 5:14, DinamoRiga sat down three starters and brought them back around 2:30.

Finally, the Beavers had a chance to win it with 6 seconds left out of a timeout and 4 of 5 starters on the court and Pujats, the backup PF took and missed the last second shot.

In my opinion, there isn't anything wrong with the GE. Just some missed shots for the Beavers and good shooting for DinamoRiga.

Also one thing can be "betterize"..

During 4th quarter is senseless to put 2nd unit in the 2nd half of the quarter (i loose tuesday and today LP matches due to this issue).

4th quarter game logic isn't nearly as bad as 3rd quarter game logic, 1st quarter logic is pretty bad sometimes, 2nd quarter quite okay...

From worst to best:
3rd
4th
1st
2nd

Real talk.
