After spending several seasons in a division with one side that is stacked with quality teams and the otherside that is full of poorer quality teams the idea of mixing the divisions season to season came to mind.

For the last 6-7 season the team that plays relegation games in my half of DII.2 would have played finals on the other half on the league. Our season week to weak battles are always tough and basically the other side always gets HCA in the playoffs an wins the GF to promote.

I suggest that after each season teams 1,3,5 & 7 from the great 8 are mixed with teams 2,4,6,8 from the Big 8 and vice versa to realign the conferences a little each season.

This would hopefully give every team a fairer chance to promote/win relegation series and so on and thus not be forced to try to relegate and hope to promote to a better Div the following season.

Maybe HCA in the finals could be decided by whichever team has the best record against the other conference.

I like your idea ...

But I suggest that the mixing should be based on divisional overall ranking.

I agree but I think you should just swap, like for like, even or odd number teams (so 2nd red with 2nd blue, 4th red with 4th blue, 6th red with 6th blue).

This guarantees that if the 2 or 3 best teams in the league are in the same division at least one goes to the other side and the same applies to teams fighting to avoid relegation. It's been a few seasons in the English top league, that BOTH teams from the blue side won relegation series easily. Those teams which finished 5-7 in the blue side would have fought for a playoff spot in the other conference.

No change are needed to how rivals are determined: although instead of 2 games you should consider the single game you played the previous season for teams who are swapping conference

change your first sentnance
the idea of mixing the divisions season to season came to mind.

should be - mixing the conferences. Some of the reply's are people thinking its division mixing.

But yes. this is me since like season 19.
There have been only 3 division winners from the other conference since Season 19.

Here i am - stuck competing against a really hard conference season in season out. I remember one season, the other conference had the 3 relegates and the promotee, and the following season, i think we had no ABBL relegate, so that conference got 4 Div III promotees.

so i am definately all in favour for this idea. I personally think they could just randomize it every season. everyone in a big bucket, mix em up, where they lie, thats where it is.

I am in favor of this idea because I always get stuck in the hard side. But the only way to determine if the divisions are fair are through cross matchups.

Not much to say, great idea and I fully support this.

whether it's random or something like 1 with 3 and 2 with 4 etc, doesn't really matter to me either way, but I think it's a good idea for every 3-5 seasons or so.

Even though im fully supportive of this idea - im trying to think of disadvantages.

would there be a problem with Rival games? Or .... something else? i can't think of anything off the top of my head, maybe there is some reason why the conferences remain fixed?

anyone?
