I don't have time often to watch the games and observe the kind of shots my players take/make. This becomes very bothersome when I try to analyze the effects of tactics and opponent's defense. Since we have a shot chart by quarters already, can we also have a shot chart by players that map out their makes/misses?

I don't have time

Too bad.

In the viewer you can mouseover the O's and X's and it gives you the player name. Do it quarter by quarter so it's not so messy.

i like ur suggestion.

wha might be easier is if there was the shot chart distribution stats kept somewhere, so you wouldn't even need a shot chart.

This is great idea. I'd love to be able to break out the shot selection by player.

Moreover maybe make it a supporter feature and allow us to distinguish between jump shots close to the basket vs layups. CC
ircles and crosses rlly dnt tell much of the story

There is a tool (manager made) called BB Game Analyzer. You need supporter to be able to input the right data of a game though (the play-by-play commentary of the game you'd like to have analyzed).

It does return what kind of shots your players take, from where, how much time on the shotclock on average, how many open, how many contested shots - and in addition to this - also about defensive breakdowns and how your defense contested shots of the other manager. And a lot more actually.

The manager who created the tool is unfortunately no longer a player, but I'd happily send you the tool if you want it. Once again, you do need supporter in order to use it though.

As long as you don't have that my suggestion would be to skip through games (to the ends of the quarters) and indeed have a look around there. Nothing beats a hard working manager ;p

Oh I didn't know about that, I will remember to ask for it once I get supporter. Thanks!

For those of us that don't have supporter or this tool, the suggestion to show a shot chart is pretty good. Initially, I would suggest that instead of a breakdown of exactly where the shots were taken from we get something added to the box score like:

FG TOT|FG MID|FG PT
7-11|5-7|2-4

Where MID is how many mid range shots and PT is how many shots in the paint. It's just two additional statistics, but they would be nice to see so you could see where your players were shooting from when they weren't jacking up threes. It would help new players get a feel for where the shots in the various offenses are taken and which players on their team tend to shoot from what areas. Maybe eventually add it to the stats pages too.
