Here's an idea I would like, and I think might help with the grumbling about slow training, and retention of new players:

A very modest (and I mean tiny) skill boost for a single player who can have an "extra workout" - once every 24 hours. Basically, a micro-training session for one player that boosts a skill by maybe 5% of the regular weekly training session.

My thinking is 1) it gives us something to do on a daily basis. A reason to log in and do something constructive. And the more people are engaged the less likely they are to drift away and quit. 2) I think a lot of players are frustrated with the slow training process. I wouldn't (and I know you wouldn't) want this to drastically alter the process, but it would at least feel like we're doing something to improve our teams. 3) It rewards people for staying involved and logging in regularly. I know you don't want this to be a Zynga game where people with no lives have a huge advantage by collecting trinkets every 3 minutes. But I don't think a meager boost every 24 hours gives anyone a huge advantage.

Thanks for the fun game.

Not a fan of this idea. I like the goal of this idea, but I don't think there is a positive way to implement it and actually have it work and be liked.

1. This is positive, but there are still plenty of other things to do. I think it would engage people more, but it wouldn't engage everybody more and could potentially lead to people thinking they don't have enough time for BB in order to succeed.

2. A 5% boost daily means that a player can potentially receive 135% training for the week. Do that repeatedly with the same player and it adds up and I don't like having that much training. (Personally I love the current training system even though some of BB does not like how slow it is).

3. This is a positive/negative sort of thing. One of the things I think BB prides itself on is continuing to be appealing to people of all ages, and regardless of time, you can generally still do everything that everyone else does. Although this definitely wouldn't be as drastic as the Zynga game you mentioned, it would still give a big enough advantage that would alter the image of BB in my opinion and make it less attractive to older managers who work a lot or managers who simply don't have time to log on every day.

It's not a bad suggestion by any means and I like the general idea, I'm just not sure how much the general BB public would like it. It certainly would benefit me, because I tend to log on every day, but I'm worried it would affect the casual managers involved with the game, and although it may attract more of those managers to become more involved and committed, I think it could also do the opposite with some managers and discourage them and make them believe that they don't have enough time for BB. I'm interested to hear some more perspectives on this though!

5% was just a number I threw it out. Lower would be fine, too. What I'm aiming for is 4-5 weeks of daily training for the average player getting 1 pop.

But I understand this being an area that you tweak carefully, and don't give certain players advantages.

I'm in the same boat as EBW.
While this idea would be great for my team, I know some folks who only can log on once or twice a week at most, so they are doing all they can to set their lineups and grab scrimmages before they have to go back out where they have no internet access.
I'd feel like it's an unfair advantage.

I agree with everything EBW said.

I also like the concept but enjoy the slow progression of players. I think this idea would be much more acceptable if it gave maybe 1% boost to the trained skill. That would equate to 100 days of training for a pop which is roughly the length of a season. 1 pop per season is less than the difference in staff levels but it does still create something that can be utilized to try and gain an edge. At that rate, does it even accomplish your original intent though?

Yes, I think anything is better than nothing! That way it's not a big deal if you don't have time to log in...but if you do persistently there's s small reward, and something to do between games.
