After 16 games... =)
1. Trinidad and Tobago Iguanas
The record speaks for itself, best defensive team in the league, with 1038 points against, which equates to roughly 64.8 points allowed per game. Despite selling my roster earlier by er.... mistake... i was gonna buy back everyone but Simpson but I lapsed in the 5 minute interval during which they all sold... (you can bid on your own players). So instead, I just got a nice core of 3 guys, (possibly overpayed a bit by 100-250k for both my bigs)... who would still be very good players in d3. They're yet to appear on the leaderboards due to insufficient number of games played (Gapejevas would be on PPG and rebounds, auersmacher on rebounds). Generally happy with the performances, Getting the cheapest production players just to help me out with promotion... around those big 3.
2. Mercy Buckets
Just lost to Generals, but I'm calling it a one off due to inferior enthusiasm and a gamble with his tactics in that game. Defensively very solid, I think he misses that raw offense Durchi provided before his injury though, offensive players are always more fun, although defensive guys may work better in the long run. I always gotta mention my beautiful roster before I sold my entire team, 15 OD at SG, 11 OD at PG, 13 OD/9 ID at SF, 12 ID/8 OD PF, 13 ID C..... now that's defense ! Before i start boasting about my OLD roster.... I think the 20k C will give him the edge over Generals in the next meeting since he actually had bad game shape for the loss(unless someone else takes care of generals!)... just needs to be smarter with his line up decisions. I expect Buckets to win the conference, he does have the best record in there for a reason.
3. Washington Generals
Nice roster mate. not the best defense in the league, but not the worst either. More offensive minded than myself or buckets though, he's easily got over 150+ more points than either of us. However, I like this roster. Young guys to build around, compared to buckets who will probably have to sell off his older guys next season. Generals just need to keep adding pieces, over the next season and a half and should be ready for d3 if he plays it smart with his spending. His current lot would make for a very strong d3 bench. Yes bench... not starters. I wish i could have those guys with me in d3 (let's not get carried away, nothing is ever guaranteed, i could mess up promotion like I did last season). Anyway. I like where Generals are heading, keep adding pieces, slowly. Careful with the overpriced market though. Maybe Fleck needs a backcourt buddy.
4. Green Peppers
I'm still leaving him 4th despite the slip up to Condors. They've been a constant in the playoffs in the Big 8. The GM is smart, however, has a liking for the old guys. Those players decline throughout the season, compared to, let's say General's players, who may not be as good, but in the long run would be a better investment because their skills won't be dropping. I'll expect him to stay 3rd but won't be able to touch the top 2 in playoffs.
5. I Believe That We Will Win
Great team name ! Anyway. GM's been smart. Doing some great stuff. I believe they will manage to fight off the competition for 4th, despite that loss to Strike Club yesterday. It doesn't matter much, just happier fans and better attendance =) Not much to say roster wise, he's clearly in the process of building and doesn't really have an identity yet. My team, Iguanas, have traditionally been a strong front court and defensive team. Generals have always been offensive minded, etc. That's our identity. IBTWWW needs to find theirs.
6. Tartans
Well.... Tartans did not play his best team or anything near it for that matter against me yesterday. I believe I have a slight idea why, but it won't voice it. Anyway, he's got a strong bigman in Cesario Rapiz, I havent seen his 19k guard enough to c
