Hi all,

My next playoff opponent has similar outside and inside defense ratings. His season averages are: Perimeter 7.9 and inside 7.5. I'm pretty good in terms of inside scoring (season average of 9.0) but no so much when it comes to outside shooting (season average of 5.9). Whenever I play LI, my outside scoring is average (low) or average (medium) at best. It was mediocre in my last playoff game where I used LI. That way I'm able to beat opponents with low inside defenses but my low outside shooting causes serious problems in Matchup Ratings and my next opponent is a very good outside shooting team.

I'm trying to figure out the offense strategy I'm going to use for this upcoming playoff game.

I'll probably use 3-2 zone defense to fend off his shooters to low shooting percentages. I've considered using 1-3-1 but felt it was too risky as my PF has an average OD.

What do you think?

I don't think he reads the forums and he also never uses game-day prep, so the tempo won't be a problem in my opinion.

My shooters are not that sharp and whenever I use a balance offense, I get like an average outside scoring. But again, using LI really causes matchup problems for my PG and SG.

I'll go with crunch time for sure, no doubt about it. It's just our last meeting, where I lost playing to my strength, is making me have second thoughts about my offense strategy. Thanks for the comments by the way, I'm leaning towards LI now. But just for now :)

Without knowing the skills of your players I can only suggest to run your best offense and if that's LI then run it. Having bad outside scoring is a problem but if you don't have the players another offense won't solve it for you, especially when he has good OD. I don't like ptb against strong teams because if you have trouble finding a good shot, taking less time to find one isn't going to help often.

By looking at what you suggested, I understand taking less time against team with good defense is a bad choice. But then again LI is a fast pace system as well, isn't it?

I have a 100K C, 55K PF, 25K SF, 30K SG and 15K PG by the way. That may give you a better idea of what my team looks like.

Yeah LI isn't ideal either, but it's hard to make other suggestions without knowing the skills. Low Post or Inside Iso could be options, but LP needs good flow to reach the bigs (HA/PA), and II needs good driving and some HA/PA on your bigs besides the scoring of course, as they will be creating for themselves and need to pass the ball if they don't find a good option.

The problem seems to be that your team is not balanced at all, more than 6x salary difference between starters is not a recipe for succes.

I really appreciate the comments. Of course I know it's offense vs. offense, it's just the posts I'd read in forums made me think and worry too much about matchup ratings. Now I see LI is the only reason option for tomorrow's game. My outside scorers are going to get crushed no matter what because apparently his outside players have great defensive skills, so at least I'll get some good scores from inside with my superior players.

My horrible economy does not let me build a balanced squad for now. I'm able to train inside players like hell but no luck with outside scorers. I can afford to buy old and experienced outside players, but that's it. Really frustrated with the fans, can never get a sellout game.
