Well the America's pools are set, the schedule is out so now it is time to set a roster. Before doing that I wanted to comment on the great work Damian did,not only with the team itself but some great scouting that makes my life much easier now. Fwinns was also a huge part of this, thank you both!!

Our schedule looks very manageable and should allow us to move to the next round with relative ease. Obviously nothing can be taken for granted as teams will certainly be gunning to knock us off, but I like our chances.

The roster is going to start with only a 10 players. This is how I have always ran the team and based on the soft schedule to start it makes perfect sense. This will allow me to get a feel for some of the core players and see how well their managers handle the all important GS. In the event of injuries, poor GS or overall team need I will promote players as the season goes on.

The roster for this year is going to definitely have a few new faces. I am waiting to hear from some managers on their plans before making it official but here is a sense of what we are looking at:

Locks to be on the team
Henry Jarvis (30771661)
Thomas Guévin (22159385)
Aleix Barrero-Valverde (30719182)
Ulysses Hudgins (23547800)
John Sammson (22158616)
Clint Moyles (24807184)
Aiden Kearin (26110831)
Robert Nixon (26111353)

In the mix...
Joaquín Pérez (27323642)
Jarome Walter (28479883)
Robert Laurent (20813435)
Phillip Collin (20813522)
Michael Jolly (24807183)
Brandon Hernandez (26110536)

There are also a couple of younger/unique players who have a chance if they continue to get proper training. Including:
Michael Fotheringham (28479684)
Don Aaron(31706353)
Phil Russel Jones(31706929)
Irving Watts (33517182)
Marc Fortin (32679718)

Feel free to PM me questions concerns regarding skills etc. Otherwise I am open to discussing openly here on the forms. Obviously we will try and avoid sharing complete skill sets and tactics but I am hoping to keep the conversions here rather than off-site.

Game #1 - 11/23/2015 3:00:00 PM

Panama vs. Canada

This is our first game of season 33 and we will be heavy favorites. Other than a victory what do you want to see?

Game Day Thoughts:

Our GS is only OK (obviously its week one).
Panama has a a few players we need to watch carefully.
We will be playing our top tactic.

Once the roster is set I will insert a line up here:

All 10 of our players will be in today's line up.

Do you plan to update the depth chart? And I am afraid that due to lack of depth at C, Laurent will still have to play a major role next 1-2 seasons

I will update the chart offsite once I get a bit of time.

Unfortunately I agree with you. Laurent will likely need to be in the mix. I am considering starting the season without him as our first few games are pretty easy however I guess we will see.

Tomorrow the NT enthusiasm will be reset....

So tonight I finalized the starting roster. Lots of tough decisions but I am happy with the starting 10. We will certainly need to add a big man to the roster before long but starting with a lean roster allows me to select the best player to call up in regards to GS and potential training.

Its game day! In fact it is a double game day!!

Canada is currently playing a scrimmage against a U21 team. Would have been nice to have a more competitive game however it was very difficult to get a scrimmage booked. Several NT teams missed out all together.

This afternoon we will play Panama in our first contest of the year. You can expect all of our players to get plenty of action in what should be a 20+ point victory.

The first game of the season is now complete. It was a 25 point victory in a high scoring affair against Panama. I am not going to talk about the scrimmage that we roasted a poor U21 team in.

The Good - Team Canada's starters all scored in double digits and as a team we amassed 31 assists from a standard offensive set.

The Bad - Aleix Barrero-Valverde shot the ball poorly today (or was well guarded). His 4 -14 did not hurt us in this contest but will need to improve going forward.

The Ugly - Our first quarter defense was dreadful. Panama scored 33 first quarter points to get out to an early lead. That was more points than they would score in the 2nd and 4th quarters combined.

Game Ball - John Sammons lead the team on offence today picking up 26 points. He shot 11-17 on the day including 2 of 5 from downtown and collected 9 boards and 3 assists.

I keep replying to all in this thread and realize it is only me :(

Anyways we now have a bye week. I will be arranging a scrimmage with Brazil for this time so will keep up with the updates and testing of lineups/tactics.

I agree with Headless. I'm reading it all and interested, just not really in a position to contribute much.
