Thanks for the re-election and to the 16 people that took time to vote.

Scrimmage vs Italy is underway. Players i am trialling for u21 spots are in the current squad. A few more are near but not as close as these 17. Initial team of 10-12 will be revealed after the training update this Friday.

Well you certainly didn't have to spend much money or resources on campaigning this election lol. Though it is a little sad only 16 people took the time to vote.
Am looking forward to this season and to see how some of our 20 year olds will fair against our Asian counterparts.

(BB) Team Announcement (BB)
Season 34 Team
Captain: Willis Farina (36314865)
Having played in 7 u21 games in season 33 as a 20 year old, Willis has gained the leadership needed to captain the squad in season 34. Willis is a scorer, and there will be times this season where the ball will be thrown over to Willis to win us the game.

Vice Captains: Simon Thomas (36315098)
Valery Kasperovich (36314902)
Having also played in the u21s last season, Thomas and Kasper will dominate the paint. With the long term in mind, Australia is really lucky to have such big time players in the same squad. These 2 players will play a lot of games for their country, as u21s, and for the NT in the future.

The team:
Minarii Oyama (36314625)
Scott Viduka (37119047)
Willis Farina (36314865)
Spencer Ash (36315158)
Victor Stewart (37119360)
Stephen Kaul-Seidman (37119664)
Valery Kasperovich (36314902)
Scott Cantwell (36314929)
Simon Thomas (36315098)
Ledley Eagles (36315504)
Slobodan Bajic (37119321)
Ova Cameron (37119706)
Wes Topor-Stanley (37119980)
Dallas Burkinshaw (37119993)
Sun Xue (37931404)

Congratulations to the 15-man team that is starting the season in the team. We have 3 spots to fill later in the season as players reach the standard needed to play.
Well done also to the 7 20 year olds that form half of our team! With the development this season season 35 looks to be one of the strongest teams we have seen!

Australia begin Grand Final week with the first win against the Kiwis
(36674)

In a week where the Perth Wildcats and New Zealand Breakers face off in the Australian grand final, the Aussies have taken the first win, winning the first match of the continental champs in buzzerbeater.

"Buzzer what?" said Wildcat brick wall Nathan Jawai when contacted by Rimmer management. The interview ended there.

But the similarities were well documented.
-New Zealand guard taking way too many shots for a low percentage: check.
-Aussie PF dominant, hitting baseline jumpers like its the 90s and hitting the boards to give the Aussies the advantage on the glass: check.
-Aussie guards rampaging on the steals to create hustle plays: check

Seriously, if this is what the NBL final is going to be like, bring it on!

MVPs
3 votes- Thomas (19pts, 10 boards, 4 assists)
2 votes- Farina (12pts, 5 stls, 2 assists, 2 boards)
1 vote- Ash (10 points, 10 boards, 4 assists)

Aussies hit triple figures in blow out win
(36678)
Team management were very happy seeing the stars hit the floor tonight and share the ball around to get a comprehensive win over opposition Macau. In a game that had 6 players in double figures, including a break out 26pt game from Scott Cantwell, the Aussies found continual avenues to score, raking in 116pts. The minutes spread very well over the 12 deep roster, apart from an injury to shiny prospect 20yr old Sun Xue.

MVPs
3 votes- Cantwell (26pts on 10-13FG, 3-4 3FG)
2 votes- Oyama (12 assists, 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals)
1 vote- Eagles (11pts, 8 assists, 3 boards)

next week is a bye week so will book a scrimmage against a top 10 team hopefully. Will try and get it at the same time as usual.

We need the team captain to quit smoking weed after practice and stay in shape for the big games!

MVPs vs Pakistan
Apologies for the late summary, but I found picking the votes for this game very challenging. I couldn't even decide who to give the 3 votes to. 2 players with 23pts, one player collect 20 rebounds to go with 15pts at a great FG%, Another player with 11pt,8 boards,4 ass, 3 blocks, and another with 11pts, 11 boars and 4 assists from PG, keeping his opponent to 2-13Fg.

3 votes- SKS (9-12FG, 23pts, 4 boards, 1 assist, 1 blk)
2 votes- Thomas (20 boards, 15 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block)
1 vote- Eagles (11pts, 11 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal)

Not easy to make a call... Great all round play from the starters in that one

MVPs vs Indo
3 votes- Thomas (14 rebs, 11pts, 3 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist). Opponent went 1-17. Defense!
2 votes- Cantwell (18pts, 3 rebs, 1 steal)
1 vote- Ash (15pts, 6-10FG, 3 boards).

Once again tough call with Farina and SKS unlucky not to be in there. Ash really blew the game open in the 2nd with 5 or 6 FG makes in a row.

I think Eagles tends to get a kind benefit of the doubt from being a player of yours whitewind. Perks of the job ;)
