My idea is simple...

Draft picks could be exchanged via the current bidding system. This can only be done within an owner's current league. A date could be specified (2 days before draft, arbitrary) and owners could bid on draft picks that owner's could choose to sell or keep at their own discretion.

Some owners would choose the extra cash over holding draft picks (especially if they didn't scout).

Personally, I would like to see the whole draft system overhauled but this could be a quick update that would just be an addition to the game as opposed to a complete change.

Any thoughts, comments or critiques?

I would be willing to buy draft picks, since I really want to train a homegrown player to NT level. Investing in the draft (with the different scouting options depending on what type of player I am looking for) and getting more high draft picks sounds promising to me.

Have you thought about how such a suggestion would work? If I could get my three draft picks in theory in the first round, this sounds awesome. People that don't like the draft, and find it worthless, can sell their draft picks cheap. Sounds good.

Theoretically, it would work this way. Say the 2 worst teams in your league didn't scout and were willing to sell their draft picks. They could sell it like you sell players on the transfer list, only they choose which pick to sell (round 1,2, and/or 3). Then you and your fellow league members could bid up the price of that draft pick. A first or second overall pick could sell for big money.

This idea would allow people who don't care about the draft to opt out and get some extra cash for their picks. And for people like you and me, we could horde some picks, or get 1st rounders, and try and get a worthy player to train up from the ground up.

I don't know how complex writing code into this game is (I assume it's quite extensive) but I would imagine that this add-on feature wouldn't be too hard to implement.

I imagine it would be a lot of hard code to write (always assume it is a lot of code), but I also think it would be worth it ;)

You can still buy rookies after the draft. Especially in large nations it's relatively easy to get domestic players on the market.

My league is filled with bots, who would sell me his draft pick? I don't like the suggestion.

Give us a youth squad, so luck is eliminated and everybody is responsible for his own results. #profit
