now one of the great things about this game is that we ALL in theory play on a level field, or at least we all start the same...but I digress.

Membership needs (as the slogan goes) to 'have its privileges'

Utopia was a noble idea, and actually there are some good things for the common good going on there. But a 2nd team dilutes the experience. There needs to be a deluxe level of membership where not only can you have private leagues/cup/ tourneys but to invite whomever you choose, say do this type of plan at double the price. Now there would have to be some limits because these servers can only process so much but the games I am sure can easily be processed by the system..

one of these days I will plunk down for a membership, I always felt buying a membership is like giving money to NPR, and that instead of a tote bag and a coffee mug you get a Utopian team and joined a private league.

the essence of what I am saying is not that there should be an advantage given to those who pay, just trying to come up with ways they might be willing to pay more. Hence the deluxe membership example, still a great idea I must say, you cant tell me there would not be little tourneys popping up everywhere.

But if you want more details, here goes,.

Limit this to one per season, either playing in or hosting, but not both. By this I mean you cannot host one tourney then play in another, that would lead everyone to just invite the same group of people over and over. limit size to 8 teams, make it a default single elimination format. These games would run as private games and I think they should be limited to the week of the finals. Make it a Monday, Wednesday Friday format. Oh and the fields cannot include anyone still in active competition.
