Too many sandbaggers spoil the game.

Sandbaggers is term used in bowling. It refers to a player that on purpose dods not play to theif highest ability and holds bacto better enhance rhemib future matches. Taking it easy instead of playing at their real ability.

don't see how that spoils the game to be honest. seems like a legitimate strategy. though i'm still unsure what qualifies as sandbagging... but from the sound of it, i'm a sandbagger lol.

Sounds like I am too. You gotta pick and choose your spots when you only have 60 minutes per player per week, right?

Minute management is as important in this game as any aspect. Knowing when to save your resources ($$$) and play for 5th (although that isn't such a great move anymore) and when to go for it is also important. If you go all out to win every game every week, you end up much worse than if you manage strategically.
One aspect that has always been tough for me is juggling getting as far as possible in the cup and not giving up league wins. Sometimes the decision is made for you by being matched against either a bot or otherwise weak opponent or going up against an NBBA squad. A lot of times, though, it is a tough choice, It is one of the things that makes the game enjoyable.
Not sure I would call you a sandbagger this year, Peluin. You are rolling!

I enjoy the many nuances of the game. I'm not dissatisfied with the game, just the opposite. The one aspect I was referring to was the take it easy approach. I know why it is there and I get it. I'm not asking to get rid of it. I just don't care for it. Normal is the least amount of effort I think should exist. Just my opinion. If I ticked anyone off I apologize, that was not my intent. Just looking at it from a professional level as a coach I can't see telling the players to kick back and cruise on this one. Like I said just my opinion. Good luck in the second half of the season.

Just watch NBA teams after they play 4 games in 6 days. They're exhausted and their play begins to fall apart.
The TIE option makes sense. You could be outmatched by an opponent and effort is all you have left to even the odds; you will be grateful you took it easy in the few games beforehand and had the extra energy stored up.
I have stolen a few games in similar fashion, or pushed what appeared to be a lopsided victory into an intense overtime.
I think it is a wonderful game mechanic.

I tried to go through my team history to see if I've ever had an undefeated season. Maybe the first time I promoted out of D.IV. But the servers kept giving me errors trying to check. I've gotten some lucky breaks to get this far, I doubt I'll make it all the way. But I certainly plan on promoting one way or another!

Someone did a study one time, maybe Wozzvt or one of the other USA Offsite statheads, where they collected average enthusiasm at gametime broken down by division. It looked something like
I: 11.8
II: 11.2
III: 9.5
IV: 6.3
V: 5

Back then, effort and gameshape management was probably the most challenging aspect of this game. I'd say it's still important, but squeezing value out of 33+ year olds is a lot bigger deal nowadays...
