Hi Marin,
The last couple of days we have had a discussion in the Netherlands about the fan boycot. We totally understand why it is devellopped and understand the logic about it.
But we believe there is crucial fault in it. I will give the example withs started the discussion in the Netherlands. My Utopia team, last season relegated and lost the last seven games. So it gets the fan boycott. This was known and in the last game against one of the closest rivals I tried with a CT to win, but my team was too weak.
Back to the beginning of the season I changed a couple of players, sold and bought new ones. I believe after that I had something around 750k to start the season, I would say money wise I was competitive.
During the season I made some profit and I believe end of the season I was around 2m. After the season has ended, I sold a couple of players, because I know I have to get the salaries down, because in II, I cannot pay the same amount as in Heaven.
So far everything went as planned. But than the off-season starts and the fan boycot is calculated. Due that I now have a big amount of money, I get a very big fan boycot.
In my view this is not fair. The fan boycot should have been calculated after the last match, when I had still the players that I believed where good enough for league I. I sold them and prepared for the new season in which I want to be competitve in II and no longer in I.
So my solution for this design bug, is to calculate the fan boycot before the play-offs start. In case one finished 8 the fan boycott still goes on the next season, but is calculated when the team is still on level of the league it is in. In other cases the fan boycott applies already in the play-offs which also sounds right.
This way teams that tank on purpose are still punished as they should, but teams that try to be competitive but fail and than prepare for the next season are not punished extra because they prepare for the next season.
I ask the people that can to close this thread, because it is not ment for discussion, just to point out a design bug in my and a couple of fellow managers view. I am not looking for any compensation or so, I just believe this should be changed.
Only in the dark, we succeed!
