If I'm not wrong, the descriptions in the game manual don't accurately reflect the actual mechanics of each game tactics (eg: patient is normal focus slow pace, but it's actually a slow paced offensive tactic which targets the largest JS-OD mismatch, right?). So I got some "assumptions" about tactics which I would like to verify.

Is LI still the "tactic to go"? And would defending against it with 2-3 still cause opposing guards to drive against you, and is 3-2 a better choice if you have high OD on PG/SG/SF because if your opponents can't get the ball to the bigs, they can't score?

And man to man is the best choice of defense against everything if you have enough defense in the right places to guard your opponents right?

2-3 zone is regarded as a bad defensive tactics, it leaves you very vulnerable against outside shooting. 3-2 is great if you have SB on your bigs because the opponent is going to drive against them a lot.

Man to man is best and in higher divisions the easiest and most effective way to play if you have enough defense.

It all depends on how your squad is built but i would recommend against 2-3. They opposing guards will light you up even with LI tactic.

Run away as fast as you can from 2-3 zone. You will get burnt up every time. I once had a squad and actually building up another to play the 3-2. Assuming the 3 outside defenders are your PG/SG/SF. All with at least 16OD and my C/PF would also be strong on ID AND SB. I had also, 3-4 back ups who were pretty balanced and probably could have been used in many line ups as starters but for that team they were perfect for being back ups with a couple having emphasis on 3 pt shooting, Rebounding and high JS. I ran M2M on occasion but was more successful using 3-2 zone against strong outside offense as well as LI offensive tactics. I loved using Patient also and it works great depending on how you place your patient player and Push The Ball was and still a favorite when you have pretty balanced offensive skills from all players on the court.

Alright. Thanks peeps.

I assume M2M would be more successful if your players have sufficient defense in the right places to match your opponent's shooting?

Since 3-2 can stop both inside and outside attacks, I guess I might stick to it. Could it possibly negate the effects of patient? This assuming opponents don't put the mismatch player at PF or C. And you would need high passing for patient to work right?
