As #2 said use the allstar tactics option and get comfortable with 2 notions:
- Game Shape: this has a multiplicative effect on your player skills, so a player with bad GS will play like a player with worse skills. GS starts at 7 and can be between 1 and 9. You need to strive to have all your players on 8 or 9 to maximise their impact on the court. Ideally you want your players (at least the important ones) to log 48-75 minutes depending on ST. Lowest ST (1-2) have a soft spot for 48 or slightly more minutes, highest (8-9) should log 70 or more. Considering you play with 4 bots per conference achieving this with 3 games per week and 12 players should be easy. You could just aim for 60 minutes for all players. Keep in mind that every game against a bot you will trigger garbage time, which means a more even split in minutes between starters and backups (say with strictly follow you would get a 38-10 or 40-8 split with garbage time you'd probably get 28-20 or 30-18)
- Enthusiasm: you need allstar tactics selection for this. Every time you use Take it easy (TIE) your Enthusiasm grows and your players will give more and play better in the following games. So at the very least TIE every single Bot team and every game you are sure to win or lose regardless of whether you use more Enthusiasm or not. Against human teams you will use Normal when you think you have a chance or TIE if you think you have no chance. Enth tends to revert to 5 over time, but if you TIE every game you will sit at 11-12 permanently. TIEing with 11-12 Enth is about the same as Normalling a game with 8 Enth.
Both of these make a huge difference in your team's performance. Also for Bots, not only should you TIE them but use Game Day Preparation as well as the always use BO/mtm, so you can safely GDP balanced/normal.
