This seems to be a trend in the pros which could be worked into BB. Perhaps combined with the proposed idea for 'naturalization', it could help spread some talent to micro-nations. It does give managers another level of control since sometimes it's the pro teams themselves that are pressuring the players to decline.

I've been rooting for the NZ Tall Blacks in international play for many seasons and it seems that Steven Adams will never participate. Also, Team USA's lackluster finish in this past FIBA cup shows a recent example.

In real life, people reject NT calls for various reasons - politics, differing views, sour relationships, and even wanting to focus on the upcoming season (which was the main reason for Team USA apparently?). These things actually don't come into play in BB (well maybe only the relationship Dynamics between team coach and NT coach)

I don't see a reason to reject a NT call up, especially when it benefits your team the most. Unless of course you have issues with the NT manager and are willing to sacrifice (tho it isn't much for U21 I think? Other than EXP boost) whatever benefits you get from your player being on the NT just to spite the manager.

That said, with the previous cases of players buying NT players and sacking them in order to sabotage opposing NTs (that was why they made NT players go into the TL by default if they don't have a team iirc), I think this feature would be prone to being abused and spoils the game more than enhances it.

How is it counterproductive if you have merch boost for NT players? How is it counterproductive if the market value of NT players is generally higher than other players?
Anyway, managers can train their players in any way, scouts give only advices.
At last, for every NT coach I guess, it is more productive to choose the best players to achieve thier goals, if he doesn't do that he shouldn't be voted the next election.

Counterproductive training lets say you have drafted 6.3 guard with 42 guard skills, and nt coach gives advice to train shot blocking for the next 1,5/2 seasons. This shit happens more often than you think. Also corruption is very high, usually friends player plays there no matter the skills or game shape. I mean the U-21.

Nobody can force someone into training a certain way... you can choose to listen or not.

As for "mafia behaviors" ---> lol

Yeah, but imagine how benefitial this to the game itself is:

New player, first season, drafts potencial starter for u-21 if trained right. U-21 coach reaches new manager and insist on training shot blocking for guards with atleast lvl 6 trainer Do you think that manager would play pas his 3rd season? He would have been dedicated his whole year of real life training player only for the matter that he surely does not meet u-21 requirements because in that age group u-21 coach or his friends had rookies, and wanted to push them at any cost.

This is equal to new players scamming. There is not a grain of positive signs in there. It is at all the ways disruptive to the game itself. And to experience for all of the managers.

Aw come on guys, this sounds more like cases of incompetent NT/U21 coaches.

I can't deny that there are always incompetent NT/U21 coaches. The "corrupted" ones who only fields their friends' players aside, I'm pretty sure if your U21/NT player is among the top crop, they will definitely be picked.

I know a NT manager who makes questionable decisions half the time, and was very incommunicative. I dropped constant updates for him, and never received a reply. But in the end my player still got picked because I managed to train him pretty well.

No one can force you to train your players. You choose how you train them, and you can always treat the NT as a bonus.
