Everything is in the title...

Can we start training a 18yo player with something else than 1v1 or is it a "must do" to optimize overall training speed.

Thanks, best regards.

Well IMO it's the only way to go unless you are training post players. In that case, you're better off training ID at the start (and 1v1 forwards would come later on if you're training a PF, or never if you're training a C)

However if the post player is a long term project (eg you train them to have good outside skills before training them inside), 1v1 forwards should be the way to go.

Sorry but what is a post player ? :-B

I want to train 2m06 players with very high ID and PA who can attack as PG and defend as C.

POST PLAYER = PF OR C, and sometimes an inside oriented SF who has good rebounding and inside shot.

attack as a pg and defend as C is highly unlikely even in buzzerbeater. unless you have TONS of money to spend in coaches and he has the best potential at the same time. unlress you dont train other skills which is plain stupid. in the long run i would train him as most people do today in high leagues

2,06 cm is good height for the following in my humble opinion

start with 1on1 forwards, then turn to OD, then some PA so u can get the maximum of the elastic effect. At some point u will need to decide what kind of PF or inside SF u want him to be so u can calculate carefully which skill or skills u will sacrifice. ID?REB?IS? something like that.

I think the best option is to focus on high OD IS JS and REB and then decent PAssing. This way sacrificing ID is not a big deal cause you can play him either as SF or PF and try flipping positions in tactics like patient, low post, look inside and motion

p.s. jean dupont the player on the image u posted is not a good option imho.colossal SB is useless, and his OD JS is not good. he could be a great SF , i dont know why he was trained like that.

Post players are bigmen: PF and C.

Not sure how effective such a build would be, but assuming you're aiming for a C with high passing, you would probably need 1v1 forwards at the start.

1v1 forwards until DR/HA hits 12 (it's not height dependent so it's not that bad
Monorole PA until 12 (apparently PA pops faster the taller your player is)
ID until 12, then RB until 12, IS until 12 and SB later on.

Also it would depend on how high his potential is.

I'm not quite sure if it's advisable to train passing against elastics, but I guess when he's so tall, it might work out.

Currently I started with pass because I have only 3 players to train, I don't have players to fill the slots for 1v1 right now.

I was thinking to go 1v1 next season so I can add a new players to my training plan, but i want to optimize the training so I can switch to 1v1 right now

why ?

anyway i want to try strange builds, its ok if its not the best to do.

excuse me i dont want to be too cautious with semantics but in basketball, a player who uses the post area to his advantage can be considered a post player. I know there is no lebron james in buzzerbeater but, lebron is the definition of SF who is post oriented. anyway my 2 cents would be to train the player as a scoring/rebounding machine

"A post player is a player who is comfortable playing with his back to the basket. He is not afraid of contact and will come back play after play despite getting hit even when he doesn't have the ball."

I think its a playstyle, not really a position...

PM. Sébastien Mailhe a fait sa passe à 18ans, je ne regrette pas. Objectif 18DI cette saison.
