I would like to take this opportunity sa lahat ng mga bumoto at nagtiwala sa pagpapatuloy ng aking termino.

Susubukan nating makuha ang lahat ng panalong makakaya natin, our toughest will, of course, be the host country, Malaysia, dahil sa home court nila.

Pilipinas opens the 1st round with a win against New Zealand, 124-101

The boys were triumphant in our opening game of the season's Asia Cup. Although we started out slow, Pilipinas still managed to take the lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back since.
Seven players scored in double figures with Peter Heyrosa leading with a team-high 22pts. He also tallied 8rebs, 4asts and 2stls. Pete Libron had an efficient 10pts, 11rebs double-double with 4asts and 2blks. Off the bench, Leorio Lovino had himself a 4th quarter putting up 16pts and 3 of his 5asts.

Next week, we will be facing the host, Malaysia, in an early clash for the top spot of Pool A. Muli po akong umaasa sa inyong tulong sa pagpapanatili at pagpapabuti ng game shape ng ating mga NT players.

Pilipinas win big against Malaysia, 128-112

The host, Malaysia, expected us to play inside. Good thing we didn't. As usual, slow start na naman tayo with them leading by 6 after the 1st quarter. We took the lead before halftime and never looked back.

The team hit an efficient 54 of 82 (65.9%) from the field and 14 of 24 (58.3%) from 3 despite the free throw attempt discrepancy (7 against 22, given na dahil home court din nila). Led by Raymund Duraliza (30pts, 4rebs, 4asts), Peter Heyrosa (29pts, 5rebs, 2asts) and Dobbie Obillos off the bench (19pts & 4asts), hindi na natin sila pinagbigyan during the second half para masiguro ang panalo. Lirio Mangada also contributed 18pts, 6rebs, 1asts (kahit may 5 TOs). Pete Libron (6pts, 7rebs, 5asts, 2blks) and Royce Cardino (3pts, 8rebs, 2asts, 3 blks) made sure to protect the paint and both were effective tonight.

With the win against Malaysia, Pilipinas shares the top spot with India, lamang lang tayo sa PD. Next game nila will be Nippon, they'll be #1 for a week kung manalo sila dun dahil tayo naman ang makakaharap nila sa kasunod na linggo. Must win na naman para ma-grab natin yung top spot sa Pool A.

Next week ay pahinga natin kaya we'll book a scrimmage muna. Make sure na in great shape sila before our game against India para sa pagkakataong ma-call up sila.

May 2 weeks tayo to fix our game shape.

USA beat Pilipinas in a scrimmage in Singapore, 121-111

A late 4th quarter run was not enough to make a comeback win against the Americans. Main story of the game was the free throw discrepancy again, 42 vs 19 attempts. Our outside defense was pretty good, limiting them to 1 of 15 from 3s. Ngunit nabitin pa rin tayo. This scrimmage will serve as a learning experience for us and the boys. Let's hope this game improves our team in the coming games that matter.

Otherwise, baka mapatawag tayo ng ibang player to take up spot in our lineup.

Pilipinas beat India in a high-octane game, 129-77

Both teams decided to push the ball in this game, allowing us to shoot efficiently all over the floor. 6 players scored in double figures led by James Mabaquiao off the bench (26pts, 7rebs, 3blks) before fouling out late in the 4th quarter. The starters were led by Jacinto Estorninos with 20pts, 9rebs and 2stls.

Maraming salamat.

Pilipinas lit up Kazakhstan in Q3, coast to an easy 124-82 win

8 players managed to score in double figures in this game. The first half was a bit close thanks to Kazakhstan's relentless offense throughout the 1st and 2nd quarter but Errol Tuliva made sure to keep the team ahead before half time, scoring 15 of his 17pts in the 1st half on 7 of 10 shots. The second half was a different story as team Pilipinas made a blistering run to take the game away, the starters were no longer needed in the 4th quarter as our bench kept the team ahead led by Jacinto Estorninos with 19pts.

Jiffrey Sumalapao started his first competitive NT game and had himself 11pts and 5asts in 25 minutes of play. Ron Encomienda had 13pts, 9rebs and 4asts while Melvin Chan had 9pts, 10rebs and 4asts.

Please keep training for our future para mas marami pa tayong mapagpiliang mga candidates for NT.

Pilipinas beat Vietnam, 113-62

The team led throughout the game with Jiffrey Sumalapao contributing the team-high 24pts in his 2nd competitive start. Other starters also chipped in with Lovino leading the bench with an efficient 18pts, 4asts and 2stls.

Monday's game against Nippon will decide our fate. We will be grouped with Taiwan and Hong Kong if we win or China and Australia if we lose and Malaysia wins by a PD of at least 27pts. Would not make sense for Nippon to use more enthu as it is better to save it for the next round.

Training update is in and the GS overall is okay. We could have used some of the players with if only they had better GS. Nonetheless, we will still utilise those who are able to play on Monday.

Maraming salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagti-training.

Pilipinas beat New Zealand anew, 117-79

In our first match in the 2nd group stage, we bested New Zealand. The team was lead by Raymund Duraliza with 26pts and 4rebs. He shot an efficient 10 of 15 from the field and connected 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. Peter Heyrosa (23pts, 4rebs, 1ast, 1blk) and Doobie Obillos (22pts, 2rebs, 1ast, 1blk) also had an efficient shooting night off the bench.

Ok naman ang game shape natin this week, hopefully no injuries after today's league games, upang maipanalo natin yung game.

Also, please watch our minutes, sana optimal ang minutes natin sa ating mga NT players (and those on the verge) para maganda ang maging game shape natin against Hong Kong the following week. Mabigat silang kalaban kaya dapat in tiptop condition tayo going into that game.

Please keep on training.

Pilipinas beat Singapore, 115-99

Thanks to a strong overall performance from the starters and the bench, we managed to hold off any comeback attempt by Singapore. The team was led by Leorio Lovino with a game-high 26pts (w/ 6rebs & 2asts). 5 players scored in double figures with Raymund Duraliza leading the charge off the bench with 11pts, 3rebs & 1ast, he also shot a perfect 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. Although Pete Libron was the only start to not score in double digit, we still recorded a 10reb-10ast double-double.

Hong Kong, one of the better teams sa Asia.

Hong Kong narrowly beat Pilipinas, 71-65

Our first L in the Asia Cup this season was handed to us by Hong Kong in yesterday's game with them putting in more effort. The team played well in the 1st quarter only to be held by HK's defense the rest of the way. We did manage to cut the lead to 1 point with 22 seconds left from a clutch Lovino 3 but we were unable to score another after that.

The team was led by Leorio Lovino with 27pts, 6rebs, 2asts on abysmal shooting (9 of 34 from the field). Off the bench, Raymund Duraliza provided a much needed scoring with 13pts in 10 minutes of play.

With the lost, we are currently tied in 2nd place with Taiwan (at 2-1) with the same point differential. The last match of the round against them in 2 weeks will decide who will reach the semi-finals. But first, we must beat Indonesia next week. This will only be possible if we manage to be in better shape next week. We do have great shape this week, managing a close game against a really tough HK team but we still have a lot to improve.

Good luck sa lahat this week, nalalapit na rin ang league playoff so let's tighten our GS for the Asia Cup and the League Playoffs.

Maraming salamat sa patuloy na pagsuporta at pagti-train. Please keep it up.

Pilipinas beat Indonesia, 100-62. Sets up showdown for the semi-finals spot against Taiwan

The team led from the jump and never looked back. Jiffrey Sumalapao led the with a game-high 22pts (shot 6 of 7 from downtown) and distributed 3asts. Jeffrey Fresnillo, although a bad shooting night 4 of 16 on the field, had himself a double-double (10pts, 17rebs). Royce Cardino led the bench with 8pts & 3rebs. No bench players managed to score in double figures.

On Monday, we will be facing Taiwan for a chance to reach the semis and a medal. The loser, however, will still make the revamped World Cup Qualifiers next season. Syempre mas gusto nating manalo at makakuha ng medal this season. Chance to proceed na rin sa Finals if we are able to beat Taiwan then China.

Please keep our boys in shape at keep on training para sa future natin.
