I've played this game for quite some time and still have no idea what goes on during a timeout. I have asked before and received "creative" answers, but nothing solid. Some people say that a coach will change strategies during a timeout, while others say it's just to recap energy. The only solid info I have is that, more often than not, the team that calls the timeout scores on their possession coming out of the timeout.
Can anyone give me any official information on what actually goes on during a timeout? Does stamina affect when the coach calls them? Why does an opposing coach call one after a 10-0 run by my team and then the other team comes back, while my coach just lets the score pile on?
If it's an energy thing, why don't coaches call timeouts a minute or so after the mid-fourth-quarter substitution in close games?
