Why are they wrong, misleading and way out of date?

How is a noob expected to get up to speed when large chunks of the rules are wrong?

Some examples are:

Each player that has played more than five minutes in a given match receives a rating, on a 1-10 scale.

Hell, no. This wasn't true when I started out in early season 3. Check any DI team to see this is nonsense.

Win big or lose a nail-biter on the road on TV and everybody wants your star player's jersey.

No, again. I lost at the buzzer on the road and saw my merchandise revenue plummet 20-25% as well as my attendance for the next game take a dive.

Note that this has nothing to do with the player's overall skill; if your worst player overall is the best on the court, he'll have the highest rating!

I've never seen this happen. A bad statistical performance by a high salary player will always be rated higher than a fine statistical game from a low salary player.

Those are ones I thought of quickly. Anyone else care to post some clangers from the rules so the noobs might have a chance?

How is a newbie supposed to know about the major changes that took place on March 21. They aren't accessible any more. And they have yet to be fully incorporated in the rules.

I suppose a noob could use the SEARCH function to find them.

Oh, wait....

Agree totally.
Back in season 2 when it was still considered BETA i was willing to give the developers ALOT of slack regarding the rules.
However now in season 5 the rules need a total rewrite. What is there should be true, important things covered, and fairly clear. (such as is the case with Hattrick)

I have read the rules of buzzerbeater several times and seldom do I come away with any knowledge. in my first two seasons I really did not have a good working knowledge of the game, just thought that I did !! I can remember what it was like to try and learn the game from the rules. I can only imagine that many new managers get frustrated and take a walk.....

you are right except for the last part. There is no way you can use the player's statistics to compare his rating to. His defense is not in his statistics and I believe it has a VERY important factor in his ratingscalculation.

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

i think the rating has a outcome effect of how the game flow too.

plus having good stats is one way of saying it, but its more of a contribution vs minutes in given game play.

1st- your players get better by training. so aquire the best coach you can afford, in the 5-7 range. in a season or so try to get an 8-9
2nd- put some money into scouting 1-2 players a week. you get can get some valuable players in the draft.
3rd- get a training routine. Decide what players you want to train PG/SG PF/C and train the skills that are needed for that postion
4th- get your squad down to 12 or so. sell the players you can, and fire the rest. (dont be afraid to sell some of your better players, especially if they are getting up around 24-25) we are near the halfway point of the season, and you will be getting 3 more players from the draft. It is alot easier to train 12 than it is to train 15. You dont need 15 players and the salary saved will add up.
5th- have patience. stay away from the transfer list for a full season, and soon you will have a little cushion of cash to play with.

hope this helps, message me with other questions, and I hope others will add to this list
