hi everybody!

i'm the italian NT coach, i'm going to lisboa (5 days) ed oporto (4 days) this summer...

can i ask you some information?

about the hostels, the prices of the train (or pullman) from lisboa to oporto, some suggestions about the things to see and to eat...is ok a Lonely Planet guide for this kind of holiday? and it's worth seeing Coimbra in just one day?

thanks to all, and gratz to Gm-Damena and his NT team for the great European Championship they're doing

hi Denni i hope that you will have a good time in Portugal

about the hostels you can check this site:
http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/portugal/lisbon/

for the trains:
http://www.cp.pt/

price lisbon to porto 19,50 Eur

what to see in Lisbon?

1-the old parts of the city near the castle of sao jorge or baixa e bairro alto
2-belem with the jeronimos and the belem tower
3-parque das nacoes- its a new part of the city the outside spaces are quite nice and you have the oceanaerium one of the biggest in europe

around lisbon you shoul go to sintra, to estoril (beach) and to costa da caparica
obidos is a litle bit more far but is quite beatiful

to go out start in bairro alto
drink moscatel
eat pastel de nata and bifana

In porto all the city is beautiful. go to casa da musica.

Coimbra is ok to see in one day but maybe another city is also worthy to visit. guimares for example or Evora.

any doubt just ask

wow, thank you so much!

the places you told me about (sintra, estoril near lisboa - guimares and Evora) are easily reachable by train from Lisboa and Oporto?

i will spent 9 nights in portugal, so do you think it's smart to spent 5 nights in lisboa and 4 in oporto, and then leave for one-day visits outside?
is the better thing to do? (consider i have no car, just with my own two feet - and my girlfriend's other two!)

thanks,again

No problem :)

Sintra and Estoril you can go easily by the trains of Lisbon region. To sintra you can take the train near the metro station of Jardim Zoologico and to Estoril you take it in Cais do Sodre. The ticket costs about 2 Euros

Evora you can go there and come in the same day by bus: http://www.rede-expressos.pt/0010.asp
The station is near the metro in Jardim Zoologico

It takes around 1 hour and a half and costs 10 Euro

There are a lot of bus so you can go and come back in the some day

Guimaraes is 50 km far from Porto. You can go there by rede expresso bus

The train connections in Portugal are not very good. To travel is better to go by bus

I think its good idea to sleep in Lisbon and Porto and live for one day trips because the nigth is much better in Lisbon and Porto than in the small cities :)
