I've been playing BB since May and feel like I'm quite familiar with the game already.

However, there are some stuff I still can't get right, mainly because experience has proved me wrong about them.

IRL, Tatics are adjusted according to the team's qualities and defects. Phoenix will not play a pick and roll because they SUCK at it. They will run and gun.

Utah knows they have an extraordinary guard, an a complete PF. They will pick and roll with them. This is obvious. And BB game engine has no problems with this.

HOWEVER, Phoenix will NOT make Amare run like crazy just because its run and gun, or start shooting 3pt like Nash does.

If I choose Inside Focus, I choose because I have GOOD players at inside shooting, mostly PF and C - even SF. They have lvl8 skills at inside, while my PG has inside shot lvl2.

The obvious thing is that the PG will NOT shoot like crazy, because the engine should be programmed to evaluate WHO's the best option to score, and I can say my PG would be the last. So, he should be mostly occupied with a few 3pt, assists and outside defense.

But I have seen they actually shoot more than when I play BO, which is stupid.

So here's the question:
Along with the FOCUS of the ofensive tactic, does the game engine care about the quality of the players according with that?

Like soccer: when you list the penalties roster, you will make the best shooters have preference over the worse ones.

Actually Phoenix runs the pick and roll a ton. But that illustrates the point, even though they may want to run and gun and shoot in 10 seconds, if they get in half court mode they will try a new offensive tactic. In BB world, from what I understand, a player will take a shot if a) it is a better than historical average shot b) he believes it is a good shot (low experience, low passing?) or c) he can't find a better shot for someone else.

For instance, though I can't prove it, I feel as if my PG doesn't shoot much because he has a passing rating that is almost 2x his shooting rating meaning he should theoretically be more likely to find an open player than consider an open shot. Also, my SG has a 1 passing rating which I feel makes him shoot more instead of looking for the open player.

Also, the rules lead you to believe that the tactics change throughout the game to the optimal tactic. Point being even though you play Look Inside you may not have the ideal players to respond to the tactic or it might be a bad choice against that opponent and your players begin to look in other ways.

the game engine is even so good that your opponent knows your strong players too, and when your PG has low inside shot, the opponent is likely to leave him open on the inside a lot more, and defend more heavely on your stronger players, which makes your PG shoot more...

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

I have one PG that has the same problem... I think the bad combo that makes him try a lot is having a lot of driving and poor inside shot. That will make him go all the way and then miss the shot. Note that this is only my personnal opinion!

But is he passing a lot. I would watch the game and not rely on assists. I haev a PG with -7 JS- -8 DRV- -7 IS- and -6 PAS-. so I would expect his play to be quite balanced, right?

The question I have is my STARTING SF has -7 DRI- and -7 PASS- but just -1 IS- so really he should never shoot IS, but for some reason he took 22 shots in 23 minutes, twice as many as any other player on my team, INCLUDING my other SF who has -8 IS- and only -4 PASS- and he played 28 minutes. Explain that...

I have a theory that some players are natural chuckers...they just love to shoot, and are programmed that way.
can anyone confirm this?

Not that I'm arguing the quality of that player, but u should not play him as SF with IS=1 and DRI=7... he will drive and miss...
For me an SF should be based on both defenses as strong as possible, good jump shot and good inside shot (IS is even more important if u play with inside focus).

As for your PG, he should score a lot of inside shots when u play with an inside focus.
I solved my "PG missing a lot of inside shots" problem by buying players with poor driving and lot of passing.

Again note that I'm just a noob and this is just my opinion... ;)

My best player is hurt for the playoffs. Can you guess his position? Yes, SF. So now my back up who has 1 IS, who also has great OD and ID has to start and his backup is my other PF. That's why I played him. But I would think the game engine, with Inside Focus, would still have my PF and C take more shots, especially when my opp. plays man2man. Granted, it all depends on the def. skills of my opp., but clearly a 1 in IS when running Look Inside isn't great, but if the other players on my team can score inside, this player should in theory focus on def and distributing the ball. Think Anderson Varejao.

What do you think?

I understand your point of view, but in Buzzerbeater there are no individual orders, and when u play with inside focus all the guys will try inside shots even PG and SG. That's the game engine we have and we have to play with it. :D
There is another detail that may influence,I think the opponent of that SF may let him in to shoot after a few misses...

If a player had good driving and poor passing, wouldn't this result?
