I have read the message on the newsboard and I understand that at some times there are serverproblems and you're doing your best to fix them.

BUT! Why the hell didn't you delay all the transfers/auctions at that time??? As far as I know, they do that in hattrick! I just missed on a GREAT player, which I was looking forward to buy for quit a time! As I wanted to place a bid the server just started to lag and I couldn't access the page for almost 10 minutes. And some other team could literally steal him for a silly price...

I am quite disappointed and hope that you will think about this the next time...

2 things:

#1 This isn't Hattrick.

#2 Hattrick doesn't delay transfers for server lag, only downtime.

#1 This isn't Hattrick.
He is not saying it is, he is just comparing (even if the comparison is not correct). I have seen you state several times that this is not Hattrick, I do not see the point with this as everybody knows this, they are just comparing with Hattrick, which is highly relevant as it is the "sister game" of BuzzerBeater and a lot of BB users are also familiar with HT.
#2 Hattrick doesn't delay transfers for server lag, only downtime.
Actually they only do it for planned downtime. I guess that BB does the same, even though I dont know.

The point is to make it crystal clear that because Hattrick may or may not do something is irrelevant to what BuzzerBeater does.

Do the two games share some elements? Of course.

But the argument of "Well, that's how Hattrick does it" is tired and doesn't really matter.

I hope you are quite alone in your opinion that comparisons dont matter. To learn from other games (or other things/phenomenoms for that matter) is one of the best ways to learn and improve.

This does not imply that you should change something just because it is part of some other game (where Hattrich most definitely is the closest to compare) to, but it is a very good thing to use in orde to state the right questions and understand how to do it best improve the game.

Suppose for instance that FloorGeneral was correct and that Hattrick was able to change deadlines when they suffer unexpected downtime or sever server lag, then it would of course be very intersting to ask your self why is that the case in HT and not in BB? Do we want to have the same solution and if so is this possible?

I know many here, just like me are quite tired of HT (even though I still keep my HT team alive), but it would be sad if we stop comparing because of that, as comparing is one of the best ways to learn.

HT doesn't change deadlines during unexpected downtimes. That's why they are unexpected. They change them for planned downtimes.

And again, there is no downtime currently. The site has full functionality, albeit slow.

Yes, I know that, that's why I said that. ;)

It's not the direct comparison, it's the idea that many people have that "If HT does it, BB should too".

Again, this isn't HT - this is BB, a separate game.

But in this case I actually think it is obvious that if HT did it (which they don't) BB should do it. Obviously there is no advantage in dealines running out during unexpected downtimes so if it was proven in Hattrick that it is possible to avoid than clearly Bb should try to do the same.

Thus, rather than saying that this is not HT*, you should motivate that "yes, this is the case in HT, but it makes no sense in BB because...", or "no this is not the way it works in HT because it is hard to implement, unfortunately this is the case for BB too" or if you are just to tired about HT, just dont mention HT yourself.

* everybody knows and understand that BB isn't HT so it's kind of dimishing people by implying that they dont understand this
