Since stability of the players is limited, and even when their game shape stays the same they might provide one performance that is much better than the other, the question is - does the player "become aware" of his good performance? Does the coach?

For instance, when a player is having a great shooting % in a certain match, better than usual - will he try and shoot more than usual? Will the coach let him play more? (assuming you let the coach decide).

Please don't speculate about what makes sense, answer only if you have some knowledge based on an authorized source, or on your or others' experience.

Thank you very much

I'm not a developer or anything like that but from my experience, it doesn't work that way.

Shot selection all seems to be calculated from your offense and then opponents defense and the matchups/tactics used. Certain players just go for more baskets naturally but i'm pretty sure there is no AI that follows the game and gives a normal player more shots if they're shooting well, it's all just a bunch of numbers that get crunched 15 minutes or so before game time and then gets spit out into your lovely game viewer there.

If you don't want a speculative answer I am afraid that you must have the answer from those that coded the match engine. There does not seem to be much of research yet in Buzzerbeater which is understandable as just 5 seasons has finished yet. I don't know but I assume that the match engine during these seasons changed a lot as well which in theory makes in even less seasons to try and nail how match engine is working more than what is said in rules and official statements.

The BB developers have described the GE having players taking looks at the basket and deciding to shoot or not.

I suspect that the ball is just more or less randomly passed around, with players having a probabilistic chance of getting the ball at a particular position, rather than trying to track actual positions of players. This would be consistent with the rebounding, where players who shoot 3 pointers sometimes not only get their own rebound, but tip it in.

The tactics used likely have an influence on the probability distribution. For example, if you use Look Inside, this may increase the chance of (1) a player receiving the ball closer to the basket; and (2) taking a shot when he receives the ball inside.

If a player is a good passer, he will be noted for passes, and be eligible for assists if a basket is scored. This could mean that if a player is a good passer, he may be more likely to not shoot. But it could mean that the player who receives the pass is more likely to shoot. Whether a good passer tries to direct the ball to good shooters is unknown.

But also remember that from the rules we know that being a good passer not only is useful to make a pass but also to recieve and therefore, make a shot with a better quality.

Thank you all.

You have been very helpful.

In fact, as a new manager - I find these answers very useful for getting a wider perception of the game and understanding it better, so lots of thanks!!!!!

yeah what are the parameters that make a player to be in a good position to shoot? We could say, for example, if he is marked or not -perhaps, if he a has good marker or a bad one- , maybe (driving or handling not sure about the name in inglish), for sure passing... and some external issues like tactics and enthusiasm.
