Hi All,

Im a total beginner here.. so much so I had to wikipedia the 5 main positions to see who did what!

Is a players best / preferred position up for debate?

Simple example - I read that in real life the skills for a Center should be Driving and Rebounds... is it wise to obey the positions given to the players or wise to experiment?

Secondly transfers... does it cost to list someone?

Three.... are the players you start with worth Transfer listing or just sacking? At what DMI or skill level are they just worth chopping?

How do you ensure everyone gets the 48mins... do you leave this to the coach or is this something i must juggle to do?

Lastly- money..... how quickly does an average team start bringing in respectable revenue? ie When can i go buy players 20k-50k??

Im sure I could bore you guys all day long with more q's but I will leave it as that for now..

Thanks in advance
Superfly Guy

Wow. Lots of questions, and no one has answered you. I'll give it a shot.

Is a players best / preferred position up for debate?

Yes. Position your players based on their skills (i.e., you may have a Small Forward whose skills make him your best Point Guard)

Simple example - I read that in real life the skills for a Center should be Driving and Rebounds... is it wise to obey the positions given to the players or wise to experiment?

It's wise to experiment. The game is rather new, but the general consensus is that Centers need Rebounding, Shot Blocking, Inside Scoring, and Inside Defense.

Secondly transfers... does it cost to list someone?

No. List them as many times as you wish for free. There are also no agent fees, last club fees, or mother club fees.

Three.... are the players you start with worth Transfer listing or just sacking? At what DMI or skill level are they just worth chopping?

Since DMI fluctuates with practice, it isn't the best indicator of a player's quality (or lack thereof). A player's weekly salary is a better indicator of his overall skills, but you must decide which of your players are best suited to play in each position. Guards tend to need outside skills (Jump Shot, Jump Range, Outside Def and Handling), Centers and Power Forwards need inside skills (Inside Shot, Inside Def, Rebounding and Shot Blocking) and Small Forwards need a mix of both. All players need Stamina and Free Throws (though inside players seem to take more FT), and all players can use Driving and Passing. It is up to you whether or not your players are worth keeping, selling or firing.

How do you ensure everyone gets the 48mins... do you leave this to the coach or is this something i must juggle to do?

You must juggle. ;) In a few weeks it will be second nature.

Lastly- money..... how quickly does an average team start bringing in respectable revenue? ie When can i go buy players 20k-50k??

If you've just started, you should be getting a 50k/week newbie bonus. That should give you some room for errors to figure out your finances as you see how much you make from home games, merchandise and the cup vs. what you're spending on players and staff. And I'm not sure I understand the second part of your question, as you can buy players anytime you can afford them

Hope that helps!

Just to make our life a bit simpler, what should the salary load of a new team be?
Say If we spend 50K on the team per week (players & staff) is that (below,at,above) average?

50k/wk seems about right, if not a bit cheaper than my wages when I first started. I did make the mistake of going for a level 9 trainer right off the bat, which was a huge error (he was making around 20k/wk himself). Your players should run you between 30-40k/wk, and once you figure out how your finances are after paying the team, improve your staff according to what you can afford (Trainer and PR staff only, doctors are currently a waste). You'll also have the 3 TV games each season to pad your pockets

Over the course of the season you should see improvements in a lot of things (player performances, game attendance, player skills), and once the next season starts, you'll likely have more season ticket holders.

cheers..

how often do players salaries change?

ive seen some lower salaried players with much better stats than people with double there wages....

is this due to form or do the skills fluctuate and the wage is the best indicator for skill?

do players have a cap on how good a certain skill can be developed?

Salaries change at the beginning of a new season; or every 14 weeks. Players also age at this time (1 year).

I have not seen this, so I'd need to see some examples before weighing in with an opinion. Form does not alter salary, only game performance and DMI.

There is no cap on main skills, however Stamina tops out at prominent (10) and practice this week tops out at proficient (9).

[Edit: I think. If anyone has evidence to the contrary on this, feel free to correct me]

OK, so I saw a Level 9 trainer too and grabbed him. If I fire him now, does he get the measly $1,000 severance of my previous firings, or is the severance actually one week's salary?
