Thank you for your votes for National Team manager.

It looks like our first game is not until November 5th, although it's not clear yet whether he can schedule scrimmages before that.

I'll hopefully start adding players soon, once I have more information on the whole process and its costs.

Please don't paste your player's info in the forum. Send them to me by BB-Mail, after considering carefully whether your player really might be NT caliber.

Finally, I welcome suggestions and discussion, although I'll have the final say (the NT is not a democracy). To start, how do we feel about taking players from bot teams? The BB universe is still young, so I don't doubt there are players who are NT-worthy right now on bot teams. (Again, knowing more about the add/drop process and its costs will make a difference here.)

Edit: Just browsed the NT rules, and there is an enthusiasm hit for dismissing players.

Edit 2: If anyone interested in the NT wants to add me on AIM, MSN, etc. for future NT discussion, just message me with your nick, and I'll add you.

Here are the sizes of the countries in our group in the Americas tournament, as measured by active users, in the order we play them. Teams with a larger active user base than Canada (we're at 140) are in bold.

Colombia 453
Bolivia 48
Uruguay 272
Peru 232
Ecuador 8
Chile 1328
Panama 30

The top 4 teams advance to the next group phase. It looks like all of our important games are early.

Congratulations. Other than looking at salaries, do you have any idea what you are thinking skillwise for the different positions? If we have to use bot players, that can't be a good sign.

Given that there are only a very few Canadian users that have been actively training players before a few weeks ago, plus the sheer volume of bot teams, I suspect that there are bot players out there that are strong enough to belong on the NT. I could be wrong.

Of course, that still doesn't mean they should be added. It shouldn't be too long before the actively managed player pool is strong enough to contribute all of the NT quality players, if that's not the case already. If that point was crossed this season, say, the bot players would be clogging up the roster, or causing an enthusiasm drop when dropped.

Other than user submissions (thanks!), I don't have much beyond looking at salaries at this point, in order to identify good candidates. I'll probably start scouring teams (and their outbound transfers) and draft results this evening for players above a certain salary level (first guess ~$4500-5000?), then do a little deeper scouting and BB-mailing (if applicable) on the most promising ones.

Some updates from the BBs. Bot players are not eligible, and the enthusiasm drop won't be active until the first game. So expect to see some players added and quickly dropped over the next 4 days.

Congrats on the election win. Maybe an outline of the players you are looking for would be good for all of us new to BB. We are all rooting for team Canada!

Thanks.

I've had a few submissions. I think anyone above respectable in anything would have to be considered. Anyone respectable in mutiple complementary skills would also be considered. The submissions so far are very heavy on inside players... some killer guards would help.

P.S. A reminder. BB-Mail me your players, don't post them here, please.

I'm working my way through the top divisions. A few pleasant surprises, but I definitely need people to continue to step up with leads on players. At this point, I think I can limit to players that are at least strong in one key skill, or possibly extremely well-rounded (many respectables).

Things are still in progress. If your player is not on the team now, that doesn't mean they won't be added. If your player is on the team now, that doesn't mean they won't be dropped before the tournament starts.

I hope to have a roster of 12 ready to go by evening tomorrow and a lineup set. We're scheduled to be hit by hurricane-force winds here in NS tomorrow night, so there's some chance I'll be without power/internet for a period of time after that... hopefully it won't be an issue, but you never know.
