...if you don't have a high-level trainer?

Or maybe more specifically, I should ask if its a waste to train anything other than stamina or free throws before one can get a lvl 7+ trainer?

I'm new to the game (only in my 2nd week) and this week I hired a lvl 5 trainer, but still, it seems like teams that don't get lucky and land a really high level trainer very early are just kind of behind the 8-ball. Is there any way to keep manually "refreshing" the staff available for hire, or might I be stuck waiting 2 months or longer just to hire a good trainer?

Like I said, I've only been in the game two weeks but this is one of those things that strikes me as worrisome. (The other real complaint I have at first glance is the lack of any formalized system to schedule scrimmage matches...I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks it's a bit stupid that we are expected to spam 30+ teams with scrimmage invites each week, just in the vain hope that one of them accepts, am I? But that's a topic for a different thread...)

BB is working on a new staff system. Word is it could be there somewhere around the All Star Break, which is in 2 weeks. Untill then you will have to do with the best that comes around... :(

dont worry the difference of the coaches is not as high as it first seems. A level 5 trainer is not too bad for somebody who is only playing for 2 weeks. Wait until tainings update and you will probably see some pops (if you did a good job spreading your training minutes)

First of all, thanks to everyone who chimed in regarding training. Your responses were helpful.

What do you expect? Writing formal invitations to teams 3-4 weeks ahead of the scrimmage and hope they accept it? Or do you mean that its a better idea to schedule the whole season's friendly matches at the season break? The current scrimmage system is used in almost every manager games. But it would be interesting if you can come up with something better.

What I would suggest is this: just have an option on the scrimmage page that you can click on each week saying, "book me a scrimmage." The game would automatically pair you up with some other team within the same level division (so as a IV team, it would pair me up randomly with another IV team that has also asked for a scrimmage). So whenever each week the time begins where scrimmages are allowed, the first two teams (of the same level) who "ask" for a scrimmage get paired up, then the next two, and so forth. Or, alternatively, you could have a certain deadline (midnight Wednesday night?) where teams have the option to choose the "book me" option, and when the deadline comes the game just randomly pairs everyone up. If you wanted to make it more advance, maybe you could have a pulldown menu with options like "within my region," "from some other nationality," etc.

And again, this would all be optional. Those who prefer the current system of organizing scrimmages each week via individual invitations, would still be able to do that. I'm just suggesting an alternative for those who don't particularly enjoy spamming, or being spammed, every single week just to schedule a scrimmage.

Virtually impossible. I mean, sure, if you have 713 teams request scrimmages, then 712 would get them and 1 would be left out. Which means they would have to arrange one themselves--which puts them no worse off than the situation as it stands now.

If you wanted, you could put the deadline for requesting an auto-scrimmage at, say, Monday midnight instead. That way, for that odd team that doesn't get one, they still have a couple days advance notice.

Or heck, even better, in situations when there happens to be an odd number of teams who requested scrimmages, then the computer could automatically assign one of the CPU-controlled teams to play that last remaining human team.

It really isn't a huge thing to add, I don't think. I play an online football sim game, and in that one the game automatically assigns a set number of scrimmage games to all teams (some during the preseason, some at the end of the season for teams that don't make the playoffs, so they play the same # of games as playoff teams do, etc.) And then, if a team owner wants to schedule *additional* scrimmages as well (for example, to test out different lineups or play around with changes in formations, tactics, etc.), he can do that--though there is no experience "bonus" given for those games, they are purely for testing strategies, not for additional player development. Some owners take advantage of the opportunity and schedule tons of scrimmages to test out all sorts of different things, other owners don't schedule any all season and just play with the "set" scrimmages assigned to them by the game. Seems to work out well.

I have never once had a problem getting a scrimmage. If one isn't waiting for you, I bet you could find one within 5 requests...

but this one team would be discrimmitinated and angry(i push the button, and now i don't get training thats unfair), and if you allow further options there wold be more then one ...

And it's no huge thing to make a post in a thread, or read 3-4 post there and then getting a scrimmage easy

Plus, for those of us who care, there's the fun of collecting flags by finding a scrimmage against a team from a new country each week... I know the computer could do that for us, too, but it's fun to try to find teams in the countries we've not played against yet....
