While it was expected prices would drastically pull back from last season, I'm surprised how they seemingly continue to drop even after the all star game week.

Just perusing the TL, I'm stunned that the highest current bid for any inside player with 11 IS/ 11ID/ 11 Reb is only just over 1m.

Same with guard too. The market seems to have dropped, at least, in half from just half a season ago.

It's so bad, you might have to look to the world's financial markets for better news.

For the most part, if you selling and buying it will even out. Though, teams that spent the large sums they did later last season have really been hammered by the economic changes.

I think that the real problem was the prices paid last season (8-10 millions for a player), now for me everything is ok, if I want to buy a new player I've to undersell a player bought last season but I'd like it istead of see crazy offer for a player ;)

Of course, but, compared to prior seasons and even earlier this season, even standing current bids are much lower then usual. This is mostly based on tracking some players and being surprised they didn't sell at seemingly good prices, over the last couple weeks.

Agreed - prices are lower, but it had to happen and it's consistent with the market ebbs and flows we have been playing under. Wait until those bargains get their salary hikes - then you will see some scrambling....

While I agree prices needed to be at least stabilized from where they were going last season, not sure it's best that prices drop in half. A manager that has been doing a good job and decided to make a splash for a player(s) before the playoffs last season just lost lots of money in very short time.

This is far from market "ebbs and flows", and of course, the economic changes were the driver.

Prices are seemingly down about half of what they were late last season. The last 2-3 weeks, prices appear to be continuing to decline at least slightly. Since the economic changes were implemented about half a season ago, I'm surprised prices haven't appeared to have stabilized.

Mmmm no one that Im aware of has made this post seem dramatic, its noteworthy and a good discussion topic.

I paid 4.5 mill for a guard late last season and probably could not resell him for more than 2.5 million this year. The upper crust of the game had their income severely hampered and its changing the way the economy works for the rest of the levels as well.

I agree in that I dont believe that this is a problem, the income of some leagues vs the cost of staff, increasing stadium size and scouting was very out of whack.

All star break saw alot of spending but I think alot of teams are waiting as long as possible before selling and trying to pick up a big time new player.

BTW does anyone else see a problem with smaller countries being able to put team most large countries D2 teams could handle and dominate their top division? They get the same income as the larger countries with a much easier road. Any method anyone can think of that would force these teams to actually improve their squads?

They should have stabilized almost immediately after the changes, but due to a few outliers (re Marcum purchase) and unsophisticated buyers and sellers in the market (or miscalculations of future growth), prices stayed higher. Now that those buyers are out of money, the market is finding its equilibrium.

Personally, I think making the dramatic change every off-season is too much, not often enough. BB's need to monitor income, team wealth and prices and make adjustments to team income on a much more regular basis.

Currently, they have a feedback loop that's just to slow. So prices oscillate like an underdamped system. If they made smaller adjustments more often, I think they could eliminate some of the oscillations in prices....but people might complain about the uncertainty of income.
