After a season of utter domination, my team lost game 2 of the Championship Series in the last minute (first loss of the entire season). Suddenly, I get 2 and half balls in the Fan Survey about the last league game and the last TV game. Fine, I get that, I did lose the last game. What I don't get is the unrealistic way this played out in attendance. The attendance for game three was actually lower than in was in game one, I presume because the team scored lower in the Fan Survey. Maybe this means the Fan Survey needs to be reconsidered for playoff games (i.e. last game of the Championship Series should have the highest attendance of any game regardless of who won game two)? But this makes me question just how much a single most recent game can have on the impact of the fan base, even in the midst of an a overall great season...

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

it is comical but i think it is something we all have to live with... a few managers deliberately tried to lose game 2 and won!! those that were successful (in losing game 2) and couldnt sell out still make a lot more so unless they give a bonus for wrapping up a final in 2 games i think we can always expect a severe drop as otherwise its just free money..

in my case thats $361k..... not to be sniffed at.

i was going to open a thread to say exactly the same thing

game 1: 9905 fans
game 2: i lose
game 3: 7885 fans

2000 fans didn't come to see the final because i lost game#2? it makes no sense at all

i think attendance works well in regular season, but the last game result shouldn't count during playoffs

I would say that's why the attendance drop happens for Game 3.

NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke
Charles: Penn has some good people
A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

Puh-leeze... no-one but you is going to drink the koolaid on this one. The fan survey is clearly not operating sensibly in this case. Hopefully a three-game finals scenario is added to whatever test suite the fan survey algorithm is tested against.

I'm commenting on the attendance, not the Fan Survey.

I think there can't be an algorhytm to decide whether the owner is smart or dumb if the result is the same.

In additon nobodfy prevents you from tanking Game 1 instead (smart or dumb dilema again:) )

uhm... why everybody keeps responding like that? I DIDN'T TANK ANY PLAYOFF GAME
i LOST game#2
it was an even matchup, i played normal just to have enthusiasm 8 instead of 6 when playing game#3 at home

CT, TIE and normal is different in playoffs, attendance is different in playoffs, i think the "losing a game" effect could also be changed to be different for game#3 of the playoffs finals

can you imagine fans staying at home in game#7 of the NBA finals just because their team lost game#6? come on...

Exactly. There is absolutely no reason why Game 3 of the finals should not be the most attended game of the season. Losing 2000 fans because of a Game 2 loss defies any reasonable logic.

There is a reason - as it was mentioned. Having a longer series shouldn't be much better than win in 2 games. Exstra game is extra profit. No matter if you try to lose or it just happens.

I should add that I'm not advocating anything in this case. I just think that there is a reason. If the benefit from an extra game is such a big deal I can't tell.
