How important are they?

My first is tomorrow. Last year's was already done by the time I began playing.

I know you get extra cash for winning, but I usually use the scrimmage game as an opportunity to play my subs to meet their training minutes or experiment with rotations.

I feel compelled to win the Cup game, but not at the expense of wearing out my starters or missing out on training for my subs.

Any suggestions?

If this is only your second season, I would worry more about winning your league games and training your players. Use your normal sub rotation.

Last season was my first full season and I got thru a few rounds, but eventually I got clobbered by a D1 team. The same will probably happen to you, although I have no idea how good your team is.

usually when you put starters on the bench the game engine will still put a good portion of minutes towards the better players. it's one way that your subs will get training though it might not be enough. if you do decide that you want to win and play starters then you should definitely look into getting a doctor with the massage specialty. this will reduce the negative effect of game shape drops.

Thanks to all for the advice. I'll treat it like a scrimmage.

I never worry about winning or losing scrimmages and get a chance to see how the scrubs perform with extended playing time.
