Hello, I thought I'd give this game a try.. I do not want to mess up the team by doing much yet... Any advice will be appreciated. I will go and read the Rules section right now and hopefully i get a general idea.
I have played Hattrick for relatively a long time now but I thought basketball management game might be interesting too. Heh, I wonder if any of you play Hattrick too? :) I am sure u can guess wat my team is in hattrick. (same team name)

Welcome!

I haven't been in the game all that long myself, only one season, but the advice that I got at the start was to take a good look at your lineup. You can survive with about 14 players so you might want to trim the fat in regards to players that will never play for you.

Make a note of the guys with good potential and make sure that they get at least 48 minutes of court time a week in order to qualify for training...which runs every Friday.

Nobody has told me this but I would assume that it's smart to invest in your arena a bit as well. I'm not sure what kind of turn out you can expect at each level or how much your current form impacts it but I've pretty much sold out every league game so far.

Welcome to the game!
I have been playing hattrick for almost 5 years as well. I enjoy Buzzerbeater much more. I'm currently the U21 national team coach and would gladly answer questions you like regarding advice, etc.
Good luck! :)

Well, I have roughly went through the rules and decided to buy some 18 year old C and PFs with allstar+ potential and train them in Rebounding. Is this a good training program? After 2-3 seasons of rebounding mayb ill train them in Inside shot or something.
I plan to have 3Cs, 3PFs for training and rotate them for the 3 games each week.

Also, I am going to purchase a lvl4 Trainer since that seems to be the most affordable (salary wise).

Let me know if my little "plan" is any good or BAD.

I fired few players that seemed useless.

also, how many users does Canadian League have?... I was placed in III?! ... a division I never got to play in Hattrick for 4 years lol (although I plan on promoting very soon- in 2 seasons)

That would not be a good idea.

Unlike HT, you shouldn't train a particular skill, but decide whether or not to train inside or outside players.

Since you have bought several inside players, I'd follow this rotation:

2 weeks Inside Shot
2 weeks Inside Defense
2 weeks Rebounding
1 week Shot Blocking

During the offseason and all-star week (any week with less than three game), train stamina or free throw.

This ensures that your players develop in a balanced, consistent manner.

Any three for me
Any four will score

here is my advice (can follow juice's as well):

1) get a better trainer (at least level 3)
2) get trainees - guards or forwards/centres
3) make sure your players have at least respectable defense (inside for forwards/centres and outside for guards small forward) - such players can be found on the transfer list for cheap
4) only spend more than $50,000 on trainees (at least for the first season or two)

that takes care of setup. for game tactics, it really depends on your opponent. probably at first, you will have to concentrate on the outside (if you train guards) or on the inside (if you train centres/forwards). just make sure you balance training offense (jump shot or inside shot) with defense (inside defense or outside defense).

you will soon figure out that defense is more powerful than offense in this game.
