I'm trying to make my "Center of the Future" a better all-around player and am training him as a (6'11") shooting guard right now. This week he played only 20 minutes and somehow got a pop in his Jump Shot rating. I was under the impression that you needed 48 minutes to pop, but he popped in just 20. He is 22 with Hall Of Fame potential.

He must have been so close to the pop line that the little training he received pushed him over.

My idea of training is like this:

Each week a position(s) is chosen along with a skill area. Every player in that position will improve in that skill. The rate at which they improve is a function of the trainer's level and the number of minutes played. Each skill level is an integer, but training increases decimally. Theoretically a player could pop with one minute played and a level 1 trainer, if he was close enough to the threshhold.

For a player to receive "full" training he must have at least 48 minutes played in the position chosen. I also think that too many minutes in the position will result in less than "full" training. I do not what the "too many minute" threshhold is.

Everything was spot on until here - this is definitely not true.

The reason I wrote and thought this is because during the recent training "fiasco" One of the BB's posted something that mentioned something like this. I will go look for it and get back to you. ....LONG PAUSE.... Well, I just reread the entire thread and couldn't find anything so unless it was in one of the yellow or green emergency news items, I guess I hallucinated it.

Thanks for setting me straight.

You didn't mention that also number of trained positions influenced the effectivness of the training.

I think he did mention that fact

but it is always good to give the more detailed explanation

No. It is of course much less efective per player if you train whole team than if you training just one position (Pg, Sg or C).
