So, I've got some guys, I'm training them up, and I know that they aren't going to amount to as much as I would hope that they would. In everyone's estimation, when considering a player for serious training, what are the bare minimum requirements? I know that you want the youngest player possible. What about potential? how big a factor is that? What is the minimal skill level that you look for in a trainee? What is the highest skill level that a draft pick could come with in any given skill?

Also, does wage change every week, or does it get recalculated at a different time?

It depends on what you want from your players. Personally I tend to look for decent secondary skills so that I get more rounded players when I train all the primaries up. Some people look for decent primary skills so that they can train up a single skill monster with little secondary attributes. And of course, what 1 person considers a vital skill could mean nothing to another player. It's best to look in the forums and get a feel for what you think you want from a player in a certain position.

Again, it depends. Potential is only a limiting factor - all similar players will train a skill at the same rate, but those with a lower potential will see a reduction in training speed sooner than those with higher potential. If you're looking to train for a season or 2, potential isn't really that much of an issue. If you're looking to train up some NT contenders over the course of 3/4 seasons, then perhaps look for trainees with high potential.

What is the highest skill level that a draft pick could come with in any given skill?

I don't know for sure, but I'm just guessing at strong? Perhaps someone else could confirm/deny this.

Also, does wage change every week, or does it get recalculated at a different time?

Wage is recalculated at the start of every season, so what you see at the moment is what you'll pay for the rest of this season. Except for staff. They get a pay rise every week, the cheeky sods!

Hope that helps you out a bit.

in free throws he could have strong(8), but i have noclue about the possible sub

in all the other skills he could have respetable, with "maximum" sub(i happens sometimes that they jump in the first training to strong even in secondary trained skills)

i am still a noob when it comes to this game. so much to learn and to think about, but that is why this game is so great.

Ok, I am still uncertain about potential and its worth. It all depends on if you are going to train your players until they are getting old (for training purposes) and that is in my opinion after 22 or 23 already.

In another game called hattrick players train a week slower per year gained. For example a player at 18 trains a skill in 4 weeks and it goes up, at 19 it is 5 weeks, at 20 it is 6 weeks etc. I am not sure how it works in this game. But it will work quite similar. So as you can see, at 22,23,24. The skill pops take twice as long.

As far as I am aware potential doesnt mean a player will train faster at any point. At some point a player starts slowing down/stop because he has gained his skill limit. Another player will gain this limit at a higher age if he has a better potential.

Now here it comes where I am trying to get at :) I dont believe players potential stops at 22,23,24 (off course as long as he has starter potential or better) and in my opnion training players after this age is a waist off training. getting extreme potential might help in the long run, at 24 I hope to have 1 or 2 more skills. Compared to players that are same age, same skill set and were trained in the same way. Having the correct length off a player is in my opion more important, because this will affect the training at all ages and for players with all potentials.

Ok this is just my opinion and my idea. I hope you understand what I am trying to get at. You can stick with your trainees and players you had at at the beginning. But I believe that concentrating 2-3 seaons first on training instead off league progress will make you a bigger club in the long term...

I have 6 trainees, will keep the best 3 and sell 3 and replace them with new trainees and the extra cash will go to improving the rest off the squad...

Hope this gives you some ideas as to how you want to run the club. I am not an oracle and haven´t been in any way succesfull yet. :) Most things in this game are unclear as yet and I hope you can find the best way for you.

Respectable. Only Stamina nad Free throws can be higher.
