After tearing through my D4 group, D3 has been like a long, cold shower with ice cubes thrown in.
I made some mistakes in the off-season. Was like a kid in a candy store when all the draft rejects showed up on the TL. But I thought it was a good way to make up for a disappointing draft. Sadly, I forgot two lessons I've learned from other games. Never fall in love with a player, because a better one will come along soon enough. And alcohol and bidding are a bad combination (OMG, what was I thinking!)
After the first few games, I realized it was going to be a struggle to stay up. By then, my attitude was that I have a young team, we'll take our lumps and grow from it. The hope is that they'll gain skills and experience and be better in 2-3 seasons. The sad part is, I upgraded at guard and small forward and got worse. I've tried to generate some income to buy better players, but it seems like the only players available are either no upgrade or too expensive.
But after doing a search on "experience", I'm not as confident. Experience seems to be slow to pop and only does so in certain circumstances (like close games). It doesn't look like I'm going to get that from taking a beating every week.
Does experience matter that much? Is there a possibility that a bunch of inexperienced players will "grow" together? Or should I be looking for a couple of veteran, experienced guards to bring the team forward?
I can live with being bad. I just hope that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
