Ok, so I've gotten my training messed up for a few guys now based on the coach's decision of substitutions. I always put it to strictly follow depth chart, but I'm not able to spread the playing time around the way that I wanted to.

What causes substitutions, what does the game use to evaluate when and how to sub, and how can I choose starters and backups more effectively to use the game's systems to my advantage when it comes down to training minutes?

I had a player who had played 38 minutes and another who had played 30 minutes. I thought that if I had one as the starter and the other as the backup, they would switch back and forth and eventually get the 48 minutes that they required. However, when I logged in to check the results of the scrimmage, the player who had 38 minutes now had 83 minutes, and the other player only had 33 minutes. Grr...

Use RnG and FCP if you want your coach to use the backup more...

using higher paced tactics only works if your stamina is low enough.

You chould take care to choose a good scrimage.

if you play a team way better then yours, you'll have your starters play most minutes, while the back-ups won't play much.
If your team is way better, the back-ups will play the entire 4th Q, mostly causing them to get almost as much minutes as the starters.
If the other team is almost as strong, you'll most likely have a nicer spread of 30 to 35 for starters, and the rest for back-ups.

Also difference in skill of your starter and back-up can mess things up.
if the back-up is much weaker, he'll only play when your team is well ahead...

There are so many details why players play many, or not many minutes, fouls being another factor, that it is so dificult to regulate them all...

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.
