Can you please tell me what is the importance of the Outside Defense level for PF?

From the rules: outside Scoring, Defense: Both guards weighted heavily, small forward medium, power forward slightly.

It is obvious that C does not influence outside defense, but it is stated that the PF has some small amount. I want to know about the practical importance of the OD level of the PF. When buying PF, is it recommended to "take a look at his OD level" or should I ignore it. I repeat, from practical point of view.

What is your experience with PF with "reasonable" level of OD?

Then, what do you think, which skill is more important for the PF: OD or passing?

Finally I have 2 players:

Player No.1 has:

Jump Shot: respectable Jump Range: respectable
Outside Def.: atrocious Handling: average
Driving: average Passing: inept
Inside Shot: sensational Inside Def.: sensational
Rebounding: prolific Shot Blocking: strong
Stamina: respectable Free Throw: proficient

Player No.2

Jump Shot: mediocre Jump Range: mediocre
Outside Def.: respectable Handling: average
Driving: average Passing: atrocious
Inside Shot: sensational Inside Def.: sensational
Rebounding: prolific Shot Blocking: strong
Stamina: respectable Free Throw: proficient

Which player do you think is better as PF?

For my taste I would take player 1. I try to avoid atrocious passing on any player. Just my opinion though.

I'm a D guy. I would though, sell any player on my team with a 1 for passing.

I think If you run LI or LP, JS becomes less impoertant than P, so it depends on what you want to do. Get players who fir your system, don't fit your system around the players.

Great post... in an ideal world you would be happy if he had both Passing and OD.

I've opted to create a completely rounded PF with decent OD and I think this can be the key to completely snuffing out the threat of a R&G or Motion attack. (10348451) I do however sacrifice some ID/RB and would be vulnerable if I was attacked inside on the PF position.

Having said this the player in question (841683) can be used to great effect at SF when i want to look inside as he can also protect me fairly well against a more outside focused opponent whilst giving me a big boost to my own inside game.

Bottom line for me is as you say the C position is pretty fixed and i cant see a good reason to have OD on an out and out Centre. Same with ID on a PG. Out of the other 3 positions I enjoy the challenge of creating more versatile players and place a lot more significance to the outcome of games from getting the right tactics/players in the SF and PF positions.

all true all true.

If I have to choose, I'd pick player 2.

But if I can keep both, I'd use them depending on my opponent.

If he plays pressing, go for the passing guy.
If he plays outside attack, go for the defense guy. Actually, always go for the defense guy, unless your opponent is pressing you. ;) (at least, that's what I'd do...)

There is always a third option as well. Look for player 3 who has decent passing AND defense :)
